Re: TMB end of March = snowy fatbike fun?
I might change my plans  looking at a more rideable route from airport up to Crêt de la Neige then along the ridge and through the forests to monte tendre - total route about 100 ish miles and the potential for death is significantly reduced, my wife WILL be please although that life insurance...

Re: TMB end of March = snowy fatbike fun?
Sub zero don't really bother me, I have suitable gear and clothing and experience, been at altitude and camped at altitude, well 7000ft + which isn't too far off the highest point on this route of 8300ft. I have to admit I haven't had a huge amount of fatbike experience in the snow but how hard can ...

Re: TMB end of March = snowy fatbike fun?
Ok so I get the impression that I am being overly optimistic with my plans LOL. I don't particularly want to die on THIS trip so might look at something else if its really going to be that hazardous. Still flying into Geneva though, I did the MTB national route 1 in 2016 but in August and it was pre...

TMB end of March = snowy fatbike fun?
I guess I'm just after a bit of reassurance really, Ive booked my flights and the 12 weeks countdown begins..... Am going to ride the TMB solo self supported wild camping on the top of the peaks along the route and I've got 5 and a bit days to do it in. I'm starting from Martigny and picking up the ...

Re: Au gravelle. Sub 1k
I have a gt grade al x which is great. Got it on sale for 974 with 1x11 sram rival group set. What's the tyre clearance like ? It's not brilliant TBH it came with 33mm gravel/cx tyres (clement mxp) and I wouldnt want to squeeze any bigger on it. the rear isn't as tight as the front. I'm really sell...

good little film but makes it look a lot flatter than Wales actually is! unless I took a route less travelled at 11,150ft of elevation over 80 miles in 1 1/2 days.

I've a hmg dyneema tarp 8'6" x 8'6" and took a few attempts at taught pitch after the siltarp but all good now and so versatile. You'll love the fact you can shake the water off it and pack it virtuality dry.

so is it not worth the ride up to cadair then? There's just not enough time and there's too much Wales lol. My original plan to go south and loop round the reservoirs at elan and back up looked godd but then so does cadair and its about 30 ish miles off orad from pennant to cadair if my route planni...

Is it wrong to completely ignore the GR's and go north?
I have plotted several routes over the last few weeks but only a few days ago I was lured by Cadair Idris and was going to detour up there and then back down towards elan Valley, then loop back up to pennant on day 3 but am tempted also to carry on north of Cadair Idris and meander up to Bala and ba...

I may just ignore all the GR's completely and whizz up to cadair idris on Sat afternoon then come back down on Sunday for a tour of the reservoirs before finding my way back to Pennant on Monday.

seems there is either no interest in this fabulous stove or maybe the price is too high? I will reduce one final time to £70 inc postage or can bring with me to the WRT at the weekend.

remind me how steep welsh hills are
Having not lived in wales for 8 or 9 years and not ridden off road properly in wales for about 27 years I think I need reminding how steep welsh hills are! are the rockiest of ascents rideable on a fat bike with low pressure in tyres and a suitable gearing or am I wasting my time sorting my gearing ...

should be a touch of snow on the ground by the look of it! I'm sure we'll get an update from BB towers over the coming few days though. It's going to be bloody cold and windy though, feels like temps of -7 at some points. better bring the winter gear.

You're probably right! I can't understand people's ignorance with fly tipping round here, really gets my goat!! Hedges full of car tyres and old fridges and mattresses dumped in the countryside.
Maybe I will make the journey, will have to watch a few more vids for inspiration and motivation.

Or buy a crux torpedo bag as they have an event shell. I have the 700 which is comfort rated to -11 for men. Weighs 1.45kg they do a 500 and a 350 which are lighter and maybe more suited for the uk. Available direct from crux or ultralight outdoor gear. I mention these bags as you won't need a bivi ...
