There will be some "sub standard" weather in there somewhere. There always is.

Re: WRT weather?
Just in, the long range forecast:
Whether the weather be fine
Or whether the weather be not,
We'll weather the weather
Whatever the weather
Whether we like it or not.
Seems fine to me

Been monitoring this and will continue to. Going to bring nice and bad weather kit and decide on the Saturday morning what to wear/take.

Re: WRT weather?
Every year at the WRT there has always been some weather.
There is a 100% certainty that there will be weather again this year.

can't decide on sleeping bag
taking the cold weather one, even though more bulk and weight

I'm going with my 10c one. If I'm cold I'll just leave my puffy jacket / shorts etc on.

is that "comfort" limit?
if so, that's almost a summer sleeping bag.

Re: WRT weather?
Yeah, it's the comfort rating. Meh, will be fine.

Actually quite mild of an evening at present, especially if you can shelter from the breeze. I'm happily ambling about in shorts and a thin top with no adverse effects or likelihood of impending death.

What about at night though? A couple of people I work who are in the South East but more rural than me have said they've had ice on their cars a couple of mornings this week...
I'll be bringing my quilt which is fine down to around 0C

Got 2 options...... waterproof-11 c comfort bag, packs to the size of a small child and weighs 1450g or summer 10 c comfort bag, packs to size of 750ml water bottle and weighs 280g. One = grumpy cyclist and the other = happy smiley cyclist.

Oh aye, there's still a chance of frost but the first swallows have returned to the Towers today, which means it's officially summerWhat about at night though? Cumulus 250 quilt for me. I've been out in it 4 times in the last 4 weeks (twice was in Wales) and haven't gotten close to being cold once. I had a thin merino base layer, a silk liner, and a thin permaloft-style jacket on though. And a hat. And woolly socks. But I was toasty.

Ah well if it's summer, skinny dipping in the reservoirs and nights under the stars with only the silk liner.Bearbonesnorm wrote:Oh aye, there's still a chance of frost but the first swallows have returned to the Towers today, which means it's officially summerWhat about at night though? Not much of an empire left now and I am still to be persuaded on nights at elevation in Wales in April with a 10c bagBearbonesnorm wrote:That's the spirit ... we built an empire with that attitude.

I'm taking my rab bag, an extra top and whisky between them I usually find a happy medium. I think we will all survive and even have fun...

I remember the midge forecast for Bearstock was similar to that, I got home with nearly a million bites to show for it!Bearbonesnorm wrote:There's a few flying but not yet biting.Any midges yet?
