sounds like a plan is developing nicely maybe we could have a mass field test of Stu's lightweight micro stoves as we've hijacked his thread ;)

The last sideburner I made that size blew over in the wind and spilt burning fuel everywhere which scared the crap out of me

Are you planning an integrated windshield/pot support? Even on a flat rock, once you perch a mug on it they become mighty unstable at such a small size.

I find the white box unstable, much prefer caldera setups now for meths.

As part of rigerous R+D I've tried tipping one over. I'm glad to report that as long as you use the correct size mug (and don't camp on a 45 degree slope DNF) I've been unable to either set myself on fire or inflict burns of any kind ;)

Make me one with a 45 degree base and you have a sale ;)

While waiting for the last few bits to arrive for the first batch of 8g stoves I started thinking  ... and what I thought was that there's a flip-side to the 8g stove, almost the exact opposite requirements. The 8g stove is designed to pretty much serve a single function in the lightest possible way. Instead, imagine you needed to boil quite a large amount of water or had to keep a stove going for quite a while ... you might decide not to use meths or you could use this ... the remote feed stove.

Image

Fuel is fed to the stove directly from your fuel bottle, so you can pretty much keep it running for hours if you really wanted. Also, because you can vary the pressure at which the fuel is delivered and also the internal fuel level (which also alters internal vapour pressure) you can vary the output from low simmer to WTF RUN AWAY!

I've a couple of 'safety' additions to make but so far it's looking pretty good. I've not weighed one yet but I'm hoping for less than 40g.

Stu, do you have a tendency towards pyromania by any chance ? ;) . Actually I am very impressed with your stoves etc.

I think there may be some kind of deep rooted thing going on in my head ;)

Just got to machine up a non-return valve for the feed and it should be a winner ... trying to find someone that sells what I'm after, is proving impossible unless I want to spend £30+ on each one

Don't worry steve ... it's far less 'severe' than your flame thrower of a petrol stove. ;)

Sorry for bringing this up again (what with me already going on about remote feed stoves) ... but for anyone interested, the 8g and 22g stoves are now available.

There's a link on the bottom left of the page if you'd like one.

*Please note - these stoves were tested on animals but they were unable to light them!

For those who have either not tried or just interested in meths vs gas, i have purchased the 22g version and tried today on a pre BB200 training day. The heat, ease of use and size are outstanding, if you have tried the traditional 'meths' stoves you will be astounded with this purchase.
So good i have just ordered the 8g version for day trips, a true bargain with a great design.

And no i have no affiliation to Stuart or bearbones! Just a good honest feedback on a well designed product.

Thank you very much

I've just ordered the fuel line for the first batch of 'remote feeds', it's the same stuff that the US military use on their attack drones ... hopefully that's a good thing ;)
