Thanks for that - it's pretty much what I was thinking too. I've got a mountain hardware bag that has a comfort rating of -2 and I had a pretty unpleasant night in at -4 with a decent pad.

I'd kind of discounted them on the basis of the 0 degrees comfort rating - my wife sleeps pretty cold and I figure we'll probably have to tolerate the odd sub zero night in order to manage the bam. Would you say 0 degrees is about the limit in your experience? And how small do they pack down?

That's my understanding too - the deluxe has slightly lower output at lower speeds, but is a bit lighter then the 28 and has marginally less rolling resistance. It's pitched as being for road and gravel types, rather than tussock seeking hikeabike types. Should be perfect for audax?
