Re: BB200 route on the way.
I might be looking too deep (as I have done in the past with the Peaks200) but for example in above... where the long green dashed line is slightly north (I'm gonna say maybe a 100m or a few) of the line Stu has drawn*... Would you lot follow the green dashed line if there was actually a track on t...

Re: Bb200 Waffle Thread.
Yeah, I broke my rib on my handlebars and smashed off the shifter with my knee. Not going too fast on that occasion; lost my entire front wheel in a muddy puddle. I hit the same puddle, which threw me straight off — full face-plant. No real harm, but lost a lot of bottle after that. Unrelated, the ...

Let's hope for calmer weather this time around — although, I have to admit the wind and the river crossings were quite fun last year

WRT 2019 Story Telling
I'll start — I abandoned on Saturday due to shifter dismantling itself leaving me with a singlespeed, too cold, and not really in the mood. I made my way back to the car, admired the amazing starscape above Stu+Dee's place for half an hour, and then drove back to Cambridge. On the plus side, I bumpe...

Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread
If it's any help, the lightest bike today was a shade over 30lb loaded and the heaviest was 95lb ... which probably puts most of us somewhere firmly in the middle. Was it a gravel bike, Stu? My Ramin MTB weighs about 30lb without any luggage, I think. This year the bike+kit was 1kg lighter than las...

Re: USB to 8.4v Battery Charger
I've always found the tiny Petzl backup headlamps to be more than enough light in camp — 20g and comes in its own pouch; comfortable to wear, and the two CR2032 batteries give several evenings of light. And only 20g, or did I mention that? Tiny, too. Personally I wouldn't bother trying to charge any...

Finish Line Ceramic Wet for me all year round. Most of my miles are audax, so quite a distance in a day (I've six months' double-century days (one a month) behind me, building up to the year), all on fixed. Wet stays on for Quite A Long Way, even in wet conditions — last time I topped up was near th...

Re: BB Waterproofs
Endura FS260-Pro — my old one, which I keep for off-road, before they restyled it as a "race cape" — was too warm from the start and I swapped it for a semi-waterproof gilet after 3km. I got wet, but like others I run hot, so it didn't really affect me. I swapped back to the Endura in the ...

Re: BB200 thoughts and observations
[The Fenix allows the speed to be set My Fenix would auto pause when I was walking, so set a custom speed. Why it beebed so much in the audax hotel when on charge Ah, yes, that reminds me that the specific auto-pause speed can also be set on Garmin Edge devices. However, in spite of this setting in...

Re: BB200 thoughts and observations
It is curious Strava and Garmin don’t yield the same result as they use the same data. The "threshold" speed — the speed above which is counted as "moving" and below which is counted as "stationary" — is an artificial constant and so the software engineers picked a min...

Re: BB200 thoughts and observations
WilkyBoy, you mentioned that auto pause on the Garmin 1030 is disabled. What does Garmin Connect say for the moving time? My moving time (from a Garmin Fenix 5 Sapphire) was 18h36 Add a bit on for when walking so slow that the Fenix doesn’t un-pause Those seven punctures really are into my stop tim...

Re: BB200 thoughts and observations
Strava reckoned I was moving for just about 19h20m — in theory that puts a Black Badge well within reach. However ... Strava and RWGPS calculate moving/stopped based on a minimum threshold and disagree on this, so it's also plausible that both are off and that I was "moving" for more than ...

Kitfail 6: Glasses in all that rain. I needed a radar at times. I treat my cycling glasses and Garmin screen with RainEx — the rain bubbles up and rolls off, especially if there's a headwind of any sort. Not so good in mizzle, but brilliant in proper rain. Just wipe clean every 50km or so to remove...

Seven punctures. Tubeless for next year. It was good to ride with you for a bit, David, right up until you got your third puncture — there must be something stuck in your tyre, because we were on a smooth-ish windfarm road at the time, ISTR. I got just the one puncture that I know about — hawthorn ...

Re: A special thank you from me - BB200/300
Thanks Stu and Dee for having the guts to let us continue — certainly memorable. I found myself giggling at the silliness of the conditions on the hilltops — the wind was utterly ferocious! I thought the route was especially tough since most of the big descents came all-at-once — no drawn out, hour-...

You won't need to worry just stay on the hard track u can't go wrong the bridge is just off to the left through some bog  Wot Mike said, plus: if you get as far as the ford on the hard track then turn left/upstream and follow the river bank to the footbridge, which is 150m or so off the track.

No badges handed out for the BB196! Will have to do laps of the school carpark. If at the Dolgadfan crossroads (where we turned right on the way out) the odometer's at 197km then it'll be just on 200-200.2 at the finish. I'll be turning around there if mine's less than 197 and heading back t...

So with the Hyddgen "elbow" now straightened out Viewranger's got the total distance as 192km ish. That sound right or has something gone awry? Nope, that's short due to point-reduction. If you put the curves back in (i.e. use more points) then I make it just under 196km on the flat, plus...
