Adventure Cycle Festival - Rail & Trails
Details for the Trains & Trails ride from Oxemholme Station
I’ll be setting off from Yorkshire on Thursday evening and planning on getting to the station for ~1pm, with us departing at from the station ~2pm.
From then I’d be riding to Brathay Hall, and you’d be welcome to tag along.
Suggested Route:
https://www.strava.com/routes/8479723
What to expect:
A bit of everything.
Some country lanes, farmland tracks, rocky descents. We’ll also be going across Garburn Pass the ‘wrong’ way to expect a bit of a push over the top due to the steepness of the trail.
Pace will be sociable, but please have the ability to ride your bike for 4 hours, with quite a bit of climbing (it’s the Lakes afterall)
Planning to stop in Windermere for supplies before heading up to the bivi spot
What to bring:
A sense of humour
Suitable kit for a night out
A suitable bike. Some bits are quite rocky, so I’d suggest at min of 2” of rubber
Coins for the ferry crossing
Saturday Morning:
Either self guided via country lanes to Brathay Hall
Or an extended more technical route, with the aim to arrive around noon.
Saturday Night:
A few of us will be heading out into the wilds. No real plan, so just find us wandering around.
Sunday:
Make your own way back to Oxenholme via the cycleway to Kendal or jump on the train at Windermere

If I can make it I will or it'll be from the north and I'll meet you at Claire heights.
Re: Adventure Cycle Festival - Rail & Trails
Do double-check the ferry is running at the time you expect to arrive. As I discovered a couple of days ago, it's a long way round if it isn't. http://www.fba.org.uk/ferry-cam

Will be driving up from Bristol Thursday morning, but I'll be good to catch you all at the bivvy spot (Scale Tarn in the plan looking at that map?) if I don't make it up to Brathay Hall before you get there.

Chew and myself will be at Oxemholme station from around 1.00pm on Fri as stated in the first post ... apart from female U25 Danish volleyball squad, can we expect anyone else to be joining us?

Re: Adventure Cycle Festival - Rail & Trails
My train arrives on Friday into oxenholme at 12.41.
And I need to be back at oxenholme for the 13.08 on Sunday.
For anyone planning on catching a train from Windermere to oxenholme there will be NO bike spaces before noon. No idea why, just what the train ticket guy said to me when booking my tickets.

If there's room for a slow navigationally challenged neophyte then I get into Oxenholme around 12:30 or so.
