Bivvy a Month 2017.
I thought I'd post this now to give people a little time to ponder. Anyone completing BAM next year by the guidelines below will be eligible for a special momento to mark their 'achievement'.
1/ At least one night out during every calender month throughout 2017.
2/ A single trip taking in both the last night of one month and the first of the next, will count as two months if you wish.
3/ No paid for accommodation inc' campsites or hostels.
4/ A bike must be involved - it's bikepacking, the clue's in the name.
5/ Your own garden doesn't count, although next doors does ... if you must.
6/ Post each trip here in as much detail as you like, pictures are good. One post for each month please.
Obviously, you're entirely free to do things your own way and ignore the above.

Would you like to clarify which month an overnighter on the 31st January would fall into?
Re: Bivvy a Month 2017.
Would be January? But if stayed out the next night that would be February too.ScotRoutes wrote:Would you like to clarify which month an overnighter on the 31st January would fall into?
I think...

You're both right. The 31st of January would count as January, just as the 31st of May would be classed as May and perhaps surprisingly, not July or September

I have visions that the momento would be a 3" x 3" piece of Tyvek arriving in the mail with the word "nutter" hand written on it...with love by a bloke in a shed in Wales. Or a shirt for those of that persuasion with "I froze my arse off for BAM and all I got was this lousy tshirt". :)

I remember asking this a while ago and 'twas confirmed that two-nighters "across the divide" were valid, although possibly not in the spirit of the thing. I then wondered if ONE night at the end of a month counts as two months if you crashed out at 6pm and woke at 6am - two six-hour sleeps. Things went a bit quiet at that point. I'll get me coat....

I'm going to have a proper crack at this for 2107. A change in personal circumstances means I'll be unencumbered by children every second weekend, so it should be a doddle.
I'm just going outside ...

I like the understated nature of this: it's a very "British" approach to awards and a refreshing contrast to the ostentatious baubles and trinkets that may appeal to those of a more superficial nature.Scattamah wrote:I have visions that the memento would be a 3" x 3" piece of Tyvek arriving in the mail with the word "nutter" hand written on it...with love by a bloke in a shed in Wales.

And it's cheap.

May you always have tail wind.

Yep, I'll be happy to get more time on my bike. Dunno about training though. For me that just means switching to Marlboro LightsRIP wrote:That'll give you plenty of time to get into training then 'dog![]()

Sounds like Peter Cook's rigorous morning exercise regime - although he said other people invariably mistook it for him simply lighting a fag and lifting a coffee cup to his lips...

I'll be giving it another go. 2016 has been a bit of a disaster, 2017 can only be better!
Re: Bivvy a Month 2017.

I'm in for this.
Being tucked down in the bottom right hand corner of our fair isle does mean that my adventures may lack some of the remoteness, grandeur and general epicness of some but a night out is a night out!

Do you chaps fancy meeting up for a bivvy at some point? Somewhere in the Lomonds or perhaps out round the coastal path?Piemonster wrote:Possibly 3. Although I've not been here long enough to be a Fifer.RobMac wrote:Another Fifer here
