Just fitted some Big Apples 29 x 2.35 was dreading fitting as they are wired but went on without a struggle and just rolled right on the rim using thumbs.
What pressures do BA users find to get the best out of them?
Run them as per manufactures recommended or lowered to suit?

Re: Big Apples
Sometimes, for the first time out on a new kind of tyre I'll put them up to the max to see what they feel like. Then I'll regret my life choices and drop the pressure to something less silly.
Re: Big Apples
I found if you ran them soft they had a weird feel to them, I ended up having not at max, but maybe about 3/4 of max, basically enough squish left to have the benefit of the large volume tyre for comfort, but hard enough so they ran like a big road bike tyre,
dont actually remember the values though....

Re: Big Apples
I inflate to the Max - 10 psi for road/touring tyres generally.Bearbonesnorm wrote:Does anyone go off the pressures stated on the sidewall?Run them as per manufactures recommended
Re: Big Apples
Still inflated this morning so backed them off to 1.5 bar rear and 1.2 bar front as a starting point.

Re: Big Apples
Yes, I feel they need a bit of pressure but not too much, with my 95 Kg on a gas pipe bike I run 35 rear 30 front to good effect although on a recent tour through Glentrool I did have jogger's nipple after a long day off road. But that may be more due to the 95 Kg than the 35 psi....have also found the Big Ben's to be a bit more robust but similarly well rolling. Great tyres but if traversing mud then Maxxis Holy Rollers are comparable in the rolling stakes. I'm 26" for all of these, apples at 2.35" and rollers at 2.4".
