Re: WRT 2016...
I'll be entering the WRT this year too. Are there any 'actual' rules ? I know some events insist riders carry spot trackers, GPS units, certain 1st aid items etc

Hope you don't have the same problems as this year's Dyfi Enduro entry. That sounded horrendous.

What happened? If their system crashed again due to the sheer volume of people wanting to enter .... I don't think it's a problem we're every likely to face. Three days of carefree riding just can't compete with four hours of following a waymarked track or so it would seemHope you don't have the same problems as this year's Dyfi Enduro entry. It was pure carnage (a bit like the first descent on the Dyfi). The 600-odd places normally fill up within minutes every year, and I believe they were using a new entry system this year. All in all, it was a bloody disaster.

Someone seems to reckon that folk have money to burn - http://lakesmtbepic.com/index.html - scroll down for the pricing.Bearbonesnorm wrote:I don't think it's a problem we're every likely to face. Does it really cost £110,000 to put an event like that on?whitestone wrote:Someone seems to reckon that folk have money to burn - http://lakesmtbepic.com/index.html - scroll down for the pricing.Bearbonesnorm wrote:I don't think it's a problem we're every likely to face. My mate did a Toughguy-mudrunner-myballsarebiggerthanyours-alpha male thingy event in Wolverhampton yesterday. He paid £110 for a 15km race through freezing water and electrocuted obstacles. Now that's bonkers!

Re: WRT 2016... Entries open.
The OMM is a two day running event that costs £55 per person, let's make it £80 for a three day event. Entries are limited to 1500 runners so £120,000 is their take. No idea of costs. There will be some capital costs that are independent of numbers and some costs per individual and if the OMM were limited to 200 runners then the per person cost would undoubtedly be more but there's a big difference between £80 & £550

Well I'm glad to say that we don't have any of these concerns - we've charged twenty quid since year two, everyone gets a T shirt and maybe even a raffle prize. Add tea and cake and all's well ... we probably could have made a few quid over the years but preferred to hand everything over to the Air Ambulance instead. Had we not, I'd have only wasted it on bikes 'n stuff

I'm entered! Very excited, to the point where I had a reminder on my calendar! Now just need to get fit, and maybe a tarp...
