Looking at picking up a dynamo wheel (sp pd8) for this year along with a b&m front light with USB output. It seems to be the easiest, fuss free solution.
Looking on spa cycles, they do an Exal dc19 rim that looks like it would suit for use on my cx bike and 29er. Any views or other ideas?

Hi there, I went through this a little while back.
I went with a Stans Crest in the end and Shona and Rich over at Keep pedalling laced it Alice together for me, excellent job!

Re: Dynamo rim choice....
That is a good price for a dynamo wheel, the rim would be fine for cx but at 19mm internal is quite narrow (especially by modern standards), for example a crest is 21mm. its also quite weighty but if you are happy to work around those two things...
If you want to use Spa are they able to source other rims, or build you a wheel if you provide a rim?

b&m front light with USB output
Would that be an IQ2 by any chance?
I have this on my radar but in two minds about it.

Good alternative. Do a narrower version as well.

Re: Dynamo rim choice....
I have had a few of wheels built by Spa and the wheel builder (Dave) is excellent.
I have my Dynos laced to a Rigida Sputnik - cheap and a little on the heavyside, but it can take some punishment!! They are not a disc specific rim, but are fine for MTBing and Touring - I wanted versatility.
I am using the Sputnik with a 2.2 inch tyre and it beds in fine, but I have a Fargo and that is as wide as I would want a tyre - so it fine for me.
I have the IQ2 on my Audax bike and to be honest I wouldn't take it off road. It's a great beam, wide and bright perfect for road use - but the beam wouldn't be great for off road and it feels a little flimsy.

Cheers for the comments. I've opted for the spa wheel as I think it's the best value and it'll mostly live on my cx bike.
I will try it on the mtb to see how it goes....
@mariner - that's the light. Rose bikes in Germany have it cheap at the moment (approx £90)
Means I'll be a bit more self sufficient. Hoping for big miles this year!
