European routes for bikepacking

Post by Mandicky »

Hi all,

I've got an itch to head over to Europe next year for a week or two's bikepacking. The internet throws up a lot of web sites - most of them in French/Spanish. I wondered if anyone here might have a favourite resource they'd be willing to share? Ideally something with maps and GPS files :)

Cheers,

Rich

I'm based in Catalunya and have found loads of stuff, local to us is Pedales del Port which is 200km circular route, a bit further south the Ruta del CID runs for 500 miles from Burgos to Valencia. The Trans Pyrenees is a 2 week traverse from Llanca to Irun which I did a couple of years ago, also in the Pyrenees is the Pedales del Foc and there is an organised bike packing brevet/audax event next June which takes 5 days to ride the 400 miles from the furthest north point of Catalunya to the furthest south. All of these are posted up with elevation profiles, GPS downloads, photos and descriptions on Wikiloc. Let me know if you want any further info or help.

I ddid half the blue trail from Budapest to the border with Slovakia. Amazing ancient route almost entirely 500km singletrack. It's hard so better plan 70-80km day maximum.

Check out1000miles czech or similar. It's a bikepacking race in Slovakia and north of Czech Rep. Watch the bears!
