The Marin doesn't inspire me but I do quite like the look of this.

I think there's probably only so much you can do with 2 triangles welded together, a wheel at each end and some drop bars I'm still enjoying the fact that the industry doesn't seem to have quite decided what this type of bike is for. It appears that each manufacturer is trying to describe their bike in a slightly different way ... looking for the new 'mountain bike' perhaps?

The disc brake mount on the carbon fork is interesting, but I do wonder if it's a solution looking for a problem that isn't.

Given the heat generated on the front disc brake, any heatsinking makes sense. Icetech pads do the same thing, albeit with a much smaller surface area. Icetechs can still get pretty hot though on multi-mile descents. If that's transferring into the mech and subsequently to the mount, any amount of heatsinking there could potentially be useful.

That's pretty much what I do - preserve momentum for the ups

They've just reinvented touring irons which I suppose is no bad thing
