another gravel grinder - needs more thought

Post by Mariner »

Just ran across this

http://cyclingabout.com/2016-marin-four ... ring-bike/

I think it needs more thought re the beer bottle.
How do you get the bottle in and out?

Yet another one or is it three where they have re invented to qr?

Is it me or are all bikes starting to look the same?
Are we heading for euro-bike?
Zazen - nothing happens next this is it.

The Marin doesn't inspire me but I do quite like the look of this.

I think there's probably only so much you can do with 2 triangles welded together, a wheel at each end and some drop bars  I'm still enjoying the fact that the industry doesn't seem to have quite decided what this type of bike is for. It appears that each manufacturer is trying to describe their bike in a slightly different way ... looking for the new 'mountain bike' perhaps?
May the bridges you burn light your way

The disc brake mount on the carbon fork is interesting, but I do wonder if it's a solution looking for a problem that isn't.

Given the heat generated on the front disc brake, any heatsinking makes sense. Icetech pads do the same thing, albeit with a much smaller surface area. Icetechs can still get pretty hot though on multi-mile descents. If that's transferring into the mech and subsequently to the mount, any amount of heatsinking there could potentially be useful.

Avoid heat build up - don't use yer brakes *grins*
