For anyone who is interested in "half inching" GPX files from other user's Strava activities this may be useful. A friend of mine told me about this btw, not taking credit.
Firstly go to, http://strava-tools.raceshape.com/vpu and paste in the Strava activity URL of the GPX file you want. At the bottom of the page is a button to save it as a .crs file.
Then head to http://gpsies.com/convert.do and upload the .crs file, you will then be prompted to save the .gpx file back to your computer, and BOOM! done.
This may be old news to some of you, but I find it useful.
:)

Alternative option just using Strava: create a route from an activity and then export your newly created route to gpx

That does work but then you get the "Jamiep created the route xxxxx" appearing within Strava. The OP's method lets you do it on the quiet.jamiep wrote:Alternative option just using Strava: create a route from an activity and then export your newly created route to gpx

Does this not require strava premium ?jamiep wrote:Alternative option just using Strava: create a route from an activity and then export your newly created route to gpx

No. Choose any activity of someone you are following and then click on the spanner icon, you'll get a couple of options, one of which is "create a route". You get a few more if it's one of your own activities. I'm on the free account.ootini wrote:Does this not require strava premium ?jamiep wrote:Alternative option just using Strava: create a route from an activity and then export your newly created route to gpx

Ah fair enough, looks like this might be a solution looking for a problem. I just noticed everytimei hit the "gpx" button I was told to upgrade.
Re: GPXs out of Strava
I don't *think* that happens if one clicks private when creating the route.whitestone wrote:That does work but then you get the "Jamiep created the route xxxxx" appearing within Strava.
