Spot Tracker question, why wont it work!?
So, ive payed my spot subscription, ive done all of the online stuff, and ive managed send a message from it to all the right places. But, i dont know how to make it track me? Do they have to be left in tracking mode for a while before they send the first signal? What buttons do i press?
Cheers in advance

Press and hold the footprint button until it flashes. It takes up to 10 mins before it sends its first message - the message light flashes when this happens. Or hit the OK button and it will send a message straightaway.
If this doesn't work get onto spot - It took me a few goes and a few emails to get my account set up and working properly.

For Spot 2: Press and hold the tracking button until it flashes (the one with two boot prints on it). It'll emit a point every 10mins if it has a good enough signal
Edit: you wait 10 mins for a reply and two come along at once

All you need to do is, er, erm.....

....hold the OK button for 5 seconds until the green light flashes every 3 seconds.

Yup, have done that, will it take a while to get its bearings before sending the first signal? It doesn't seem to show up on the tracking site?Ian wrote:Ah, a SPOT 1 - I used to have one of those.Ben98 wrote:Anyone got a SPOT1??

Just seen this ....
Glad you got it working now Ben. It does track just a shame the Spot 1's didn't have a dedicated tracking button as it can get confusing at times.

I've got the same problem.
Gen 1 and it used to work but now won't track???
Wondered if they'd stopped supporting gen 1 or something?
Done everything right and not changed subscription since it was working.
On the Tuscany Trail I put the spot in my feedbag and had to manually press 'ok' every half an hour or so.
Planing on doing the same on the Navad 1000 next week - became a kind of meditative exercise in that it focused the mind on a simple achievable task every half an hour - Zen!
At some point I'll figure our what the problem is but for now it'll do.

I just turned the tracking on (OK button for 5+ seconds) and left it outside for a good chunk of time, checking the computer to see if it had sent, it did!
Cheers for the help everyone!

Ok, two working means that it's definitely mine that's pooped.
