Shindig 2015
Been a bit slow off the mark this year but after some nagging how does the 5/6th September sound for the Shindig this year ?
keen to keep the social/mellow side of things going but aware that some riders may want a more substantial ride if travelling up to Scotland so after having some thoughts/discussions think I've got a solution that will keep everyone happy:
Day 1
leave 9-10 am and ride 70-80 (hardish) miles to bivvy site (or bothy if weather forecast poor)
OR leave around 2pm and do 40-50 fun miles to bivvy site/bothy
Day 2
100 mile option
Or variable return depending on how the mood/hangover takes you
Will still be departing and returning to Milngavie Town Centre.
Thoughts/comments please

Is the Shindig happening on the 5/6th September ?
Considering my options if I don't do the Tywi Ton, currently considering the Capital Trail followed by the Shindig.

I'll be there. Date is still good I believe.
Zigrat had a baby girl (or his wife did) 6 weeks back, so he's had his hands full lately which probably explains any silence.

Re: Shindig 2015
I would be up for the 5/6th september... is there an official sort of page like last year?
Re: Shindig 2015 - Update
Hi All,
Life with a new baby who wasn't very well recently has slowed things down a bit... So apologies to all for my tardiness.
Anyways, my thoughts this year were basically just to arrange a meeting point of approx 8 pm on the 5th September at the Co-op in Aberfoyle, get re-supplied/ go to the pub and then ride up as a group to Loch Drunkie to bivvy or the other bivvy site used by Paul E et al last year. I'm happy to supply anyone interested with the GPX from last year or provide alternate suggestions on how to get to Aberfoyle. Milngavie remains the obvious starting point. Personally I'm going to start around 8 or 9 from Milngavie, ride (mostly) off road to Balloch then do the Three Lochs Way before catching the ferry to Inversnaid, eating at the bunkhouse again and heading to Aberfoyle.
In terms of the Sunday, again there's last years route which is quite good though not very technical and is about 85 miles, we can just arrange something ad hoc depending on the weather or Alasdair McLean has a little loop from Aberfoyle that's around 75 miles with 10 000 ft of climbing and some hike a bike that still needs testing....

Re: Shindig 2015
Damn, ToB starts in Beaumaris that weekend otherwise I would be joining you guys. Instead I will probably on Llanberis pass shouting like a fan girl at the pro riders.
Re: Shindig 2015
Just realised this doesn't get in the way of the other rides on the slate for me...if there's still space, I'd be up for this. I've needed an excuse to go to Scotland for too long. Any folks coming through Shrops. going to this...I'd be up for pitching in for fuel/food.

Scott, I'll be leaving Aberystwyth 4pm(ish) and can route via Shrewsbury. Will be in car rather than van, just to make journey faster. Can fit the bike rack, no problem.
Re: Shindig 2015
Cheers, Ian. That'd be ace. I can ride to the outskirts and meet to save you dodging the arvo mayhem in town.
