Wheel change and spokes are touching the caliper..

Post by rufus748 »

I've just swapped out my front wheel (hope hub on stans arch 29) for a dynamo hub (on stans arch) and the spokes are just touching the caliper (hope mono). I've moved the caliper as far as I can but its still too close for comfort. Never had that problem running it on my fargo.
I've dropped a small washer onto the end of the axle too push the fork out further but this obviously reduces the amount of axle going into the fork dropout. Slightly uncomfortable with this.
Is it ok?
Thought about spacing the disc out but not sure I've enough room before the caliper bolts hit the fork.
Other ideas?
Cheers.

I'd space the disc, I think Hope make a specific disc spacer.

OR

How about a bigger diameter disc? That should hopefully move the caliper further away from the spokes.
May the bridges you burn light your way

Double checked, it won't even take a 1mm disc spacer. However, bigger disc, genius! Never saw that one! Ordered. Cheers :-bd

Had exactly the same problem with exactly the same brakes and tried exactly the same 3 solutions. Bigger disk solved it for me. Good luck.
Always do the right thing... Just because it's the right thing to do.
