Stu's new BB poles

Post by TheBrownDog »

Some pix of the new 150mm Stu sent using his new DAC style sections. It weighs 120g and the sections are 37.5cm long. I bought it to give me more head room when using the tarp on its own, but mostly to put over my TN Laser Comp 2 to create a big annex for cooking etc when Im cycle camping. The pole is very sturdy but with the necessary flex under strain needed to stop it bending. It is, as they say, the dog's bollocks and everyone should get one.

Pitched high with a 110mm lifting the tarp at the back there is enough room for a Shriners convention.

Lowering the front end brings the sides down for more weather protection. Will sort out the creases when I pitch it in anger.

And here it is slung over my tent. This needs a bit more thought but you get the idea. Ive not weighed everything together, but the tent/tarp/poles plus pegs and guys should still be under 2kg, which would be murder bikepacking but fine strapped to the rack on my touring bike.

Looking good. Currently debating a tarp setup, and being able to use it with the tent might be the leverage I need to convince the wife...

I got a 130 cm pole from Stu to replace the 110 I was using for my rab silwing to give a bit of extra room too, first proper use this weekend on the shindig.
