Terra Nova Laser as tarp tent?
I've got a Laser Comp 1, but haven't used it since discovering bivvying and stopping hill walking. I've seen that you can pitch them fly only using just a footprint, but is this any good? How does it compare to a simple bivi and tarp combination? Is it particularly stable and weather proof?

It's way cheaper as you're already the proud owner of one. In which case you're best to answer the second question. Try it and tell us!

Use that set up myself.
Has been in a few downpours and have stated dry. The thing i like about it is that it gives you a lot of room. Packs up really small too!
The only down point I found is the condensation if you don't have the end vents open.

I've got a ID silshelter, which in reality is just a simple fly sheet.
It works very well with a gap at the end which allows air flow (very little condensation) and is the same packed size as a tarp
Go try it out and see, I quite like mine for the extra security and coverage

Thanks. Do you need the footprint or will it pitch without it?Artie Fufkin wrote:Use that set up myself.

The footprint's only acting as a groundsheet, it doesn't add anything to the structure.Thanks. Do you need the footprint or will it pitch without it?
