Just looking through the list it would appear that weights are gradually getting lower. I'm sure there used to be many more bikes in the 60 - 70lb bracket but I could be wrong.

Popped that lot into excel and....


Average weight 52.1 lbs
Most common weight 50 lbs (Tandem & FS Trailer skewing that, probably should format Rich & Shona at 37.5 lbs each!)
Total weight of bikes and bivi kit knocking about the trails....4257 lbs.

If I get some time I'll have a go at guessing the males & females and compare them...... or perhaps look at Lite vs Full event, or last year vs this year

You can add 12.5 lbs to mine for the backpack which I had to come back and get re-weighed for! I was 50.5 lbs but guess it didn't get spotted in the mix. So you're 3rd not 4th!

Still pretty chuffed with that as the Groove isn't the lightest of frames, and I must've lost getting on for 20 lbs compared to my first year weigh-in

(Lite vs full fat, single speed vs 27gears, 8g stove vs jetboil, same bag/bivi/tarp though)

Top half of the table with 42 lbs, 9 lbs off from last year. Happy with that.

Getting down to the mid 30's, like some of those weights, would require me to jettison all the cheese I took. I'll stick with the forties.

I think it might have been the trailer that contributed significantly to the weight of that one, that and the fact that once you've got a trailer, you may as well put stuff in it.

Just weighed my Rohloffed 29er+ and gear, including water, tent, bag, tools, breakfast bars, no cooking gear, first aid kit and a couple of other essentials it's come in at 51lbs on my dodgy scales.



If my scales are close to it's correct weight, how the hell did those really light weight riders survive and what did (or didn't) they carry?

Can see me smashing 62 this year, will be on a fully packed fatty .... It could be a two man lift just for the scales ...which is a pain when your riding solo!!!

38lbs last year (joint 2nd I think )

Probably up on that this year, new bike is 28lbs unloaded

However the power unit is 35lbs lighter this year

You've got 2 sets of handlebars, heavy wheels, a dustbin full of cogs for a rear hub and one needless water bottle at the very least!
