Down Booties

Anyone else suffer from cold feet during the night? I usually wear a couple of pairs of socks, but it still takes ages to get over to sleep. I ordered some down boots from Facewest, but they were expedition-type boots and would be too big to carry.

Anyone else found some lightweight down boots for wearing overnight?

Surely a MYO project??

Not down (synthetic fill) but still very light and warm ... and obviously damp's less of an issue too. There's no sole though, so only really for sleeping in.

If I think I'll be wondering about and it's a bit chilly I take a pair of these: http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/ ... oties-p220 They've a reasonable sole ... ideal for bothies, etc.

Err no ... they're stashed in the workshop and it's raining so I'm not going getting them

However, I can say that they really are light and pack down to about the size of an orange.

Arrived today and weigh a sprightly 86g for the pair including stuff sack.

I use merino socks. The old ones On One used to do in black (that wore through ridiculously fast) are brilliant, almost instant warmth once they're on, and I'm saving the remaining ones just for bivi use so I don't wear through them. They do 3 packs of "thicky" socks in random designs now, including some red/black Dennis the Menace style jobs 3 pack for £10: http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/CLOOTKMS3P/ ... s_(3_pack). Better wearing and still warm.

They too pack up to the size of an orange and are UL-nerd-compatible by being dual-use - you can wear them as riding or sleeping kit

NB: I imagine lots of merino socks will be fine from others, just OO gear is cheap.

Apparently possum fur is even better but less easily available in UK (shiteloads in NZ though)
