Apart from a disc mount is there any difference between this and the 2 Speed S2 Duomatic Kick Shift Hub?

The horrible colour?
This is available in 135mm and 120mm spacing, the s2 only comes in 116mm, iirc.

I was kind of hoping it was a proper shifter type

Doesn't seem to be ... everything I've read seems to suggest that it's kickshift. I'm liking the idea of sticking one on the SS.

Surely that'll mean it'll no longer be a SS? :?

After much interneting and emithering it seems that SA have no intention of bringing these into Europe (the UK importers didn't know the hubs existed until I got in touch).
I've bitten the bullet and bought one from the US. Luckily I've arranged for it to be delivered to a very nice man in California who will then forward it to me
... Really looking forward to trying it out. I recall the reduction ratio is something like 138% so I'm hoping I can find a nice climbing gear and a decent coasting / flat gear but we'll see.

Stu, where did you get it from and how much? This might be what I need to single speed in Scotland (Ian, I know you did the HTR, but I'm a wimp!)

I have an srf-3 with a bar end shifter on my road bike, i love it. mostly used for commuting but rode the dun run on it this year and it's great.

No trouble.
Rear cogs range from 13t - 23t so hopefully there'll be a good ratio to be had. My only concern is sealing, I've read that the old, non-disc version doesn't have much in the way of hub sealing. However I am hoping they might have addressed that seeing as it's a 135mm spaced, disc only hub but we'll see.

Stu, I'm also interested in hearing how you get on with this.
This could the perfect solution for my commuter bike which is need if a new hub.
