It's worth getting the z flick poles, they pack down much shorter than even 4 piece hiking poles. Handy for taking on the bike.
Other than that, I dunno, it needs at least 4 pegs in the ground over quite a large area so sometimes hard to find a pitch?

Been using a 2nd gen 2p X-Mid in the Alps for hiking for ... I think 1.5 years and always found a usable spot to pitch. Often well above 2500 m, where it's often rather rocky. This includes the use of all guylines (I had added quite a few more myself) which require more space, albeit not on a level surface. When on foot you don't have the same radius to look for a decent camp spot as you do when biking. Shouldn't be a problem.

X-Mid 1 Solid user here. Love the double vestibule storage, headroom, simple pitch. I have both the solid and mesh inners that I swap out depending on the trip. Also went with the Z-flick poles as the height adjustment is really useful on uneven ground.
The footprint of the tent is pretty big compared to some freestanding tents, so it can sometimes be a bit tricky to find a pitch. I know there is a 'skinny pitch' option but doesn't really work for all weathers....
