New Garmin Edge Explore 2
OSM mapping via TalkyToaster
Paid RWG subscription so I could add POI to .gpx Routes.
Made a test route with a couple of spoof POI, saved as .gpx and sent to device
POI don't show on GPS when following the .gpx route.
Spoke to Martin at TT who says it's not the mapping but the device and to save as track ( still a .gpx though )
Done that but then can't send the track to the device
The old Oregon had a \garmin\gpx folder and I used to dump routes in there and all was well.
Any ideas? I just want to add BCQ points to the route , or pubs, or possible camp spots...

Re: Getting POI to show up on GPS
Progress ... save as above track (.gpx) with tick in Include POI
Then I've put that in garmin\newfiles and it seems to see it and there's a little blue flag where the POI is ... shame it's not a poi though ... this is WAY harder than it should be !
I want to add a POI in RWG and 'send to device' and the route WITH POI should show on the Garmin...

Re: Getting POI to show up on GPS
I add them as cues on RWGPS and they show up on my edge on a list (with info about the distance to them)
I also add POIs but just look at them via RWGPS app on my phone. I hadn't considered doing it on the garmin directly....that'd be useful

I’ve always assumed that’s exactly what they were for

Found elsewhere “ Kevin here from Ride with GPS. Just wanted to hop in and confirm a couple things already mentioned in this post, and hopefully clear up any remaining confusion.
1. Yes, you can get POIs onto your Garmin by manually exporting a GPX file with "Include POIs as Waypoints" checked, and then drag/drop into your New Files folder on the Garmin.
2. You can get POIs along with the trackline AND cuesheet. To do this, first do step #1 above and import the GPX file with POIs onto your Garmin. Second, export a .TCX file for the same route and import onto your Garmin. Doing those 2 things in that order should leave you with all the info/data associated with a route file that has POIs and a cuesheet.
That's the order of operations using multiple file types for a route that has the same name. If you rename the route at some point and the names are different in the first 13 characters, then the order you import the files won't matter as they won't overwrite each other.
Any additional questions please reach out to info@ridewithgps.com Always happy to help!”
Gives me something to try

Thank you that's very helpful!
Is the only way to do that to connect the garmin to a laptop and importing the files manually? I've never tried it, i usually let RWGPS sync with the garmin which makes things nice and easy
