Tubeless pump?

Hya. New member here

I've a bike on order, which I'm having converted to tubeless before it arrives.

Can some recomnend me a pump that's a suitable for bikepacking? All I can find is standard size pumps with airshot.

Or...is it possible to fit an airshot directly to the valve?

Sorry for the daft question but first time running tubeless.

Welcome :-bd

Are you after a pump for use at home getting the tyres on or one for the trail to reinflate?

The Airshot style ones are fine for home but any pump will do when out on the trail

A pump to reinflate when out, away bikepacking.

Never knew a standard pump would do. Cheers.

The pump end of a tubeless valve is just standard. They usually have a removable core to allow for adding sealant and faster air flow for seating the tyre but apart from that nothing unusual

Normal pump will do.....unless you lose the bead. In which case you're probably walking home, but having a CO2 canister would give you 1 or 2 'hail Mary's to try and blast it back on.

Or just use an inner tube after removing the valve

After removing all the thorns of course

I’ve got this pump and whilst it’s great for tyre inflation it’s has some significant design ‘choices’ that make it extremely frustrating to use

Screw on valve adapter - screws on to the valve but it’s reversible for presta/schrader which is also connected by a screw. This means that sometimes when you’re attaching/detaching the pump to the valve, the valve adapter unwinds from the hose and potentially lets all the air out of your tyre.

There is also a really annoying placed pressure release button located on the valve adapter which invariably gets pressed when trying to prevent the above from happening.

If the valve core isnt sufficiently tightened in the valve, you can also inadvertently unscrew the core when disconnecting the pumps valve adapter.

Storing the pump hose also means dealing with the screw interface of the valve head

The valve adapter is such a bad design on this pump that it prevents me from recommending it (I’m an engineer and things like this really trigger me!)

Have same punp.amd agree with all of that. Unscrewing your valves is a lezyne pump design issue l. only.take it with my + tyres for the volume and would not expect it to re bead any tyre.

You can get a push on presta chuck ( works well)...but if you do it needs to be stored separately from the pump

I would not buy another if it broke.

I’ve never had a problem with the screw on and the massive bonus for me is that it fits in all of my frame bags. The only thing I don’t like is the pump handle which is a bit small and presses hard on the middle of my hand. Conversely I hate every pump I’ve ever had with push on 😀

Successfully reseated a 29 x 2.4 tubeless tyre just a few weeks ago with mine. I've had problems with the unscrewing valve thing too regardless of screwing the valve core in as hard as I dare. Any link on the presta chuck?

Have been using Topeak Mountain TT Twin Turbo mini for a few years now. Recently needed to sort 2 x 29ers in a hotel at the airport.
Conti on DT Swiss rim went up and snapped on no problem. Contis on Bonty Line rims also snapped on no problem. A couple of minutes and it was job done.
Conti on Bonty Mustang rim was an exercise in swearing and sealant cleanup. Was most certainly not a 5 minute job.
Tyre/rim combination will make a difference on being able to reseat trailside.
YMMV.

It's not a pump..but more like a large Co2 canister
The MILKIT TUBELESS BOTTLE is a pressure tank same size as a bike bottle
They claim it can re seat tyres on the go
I've not got one but have the valves which are real good

Screw the pump on less not the vales in harder. The pump has an o ring to seal, it only needs to contact the valve to seal. I spin the hose between two fingers to put the pump on with only a light grip. It doesn't need to be tight.

I've never had a valve unscrew in all the times I've used any on my 4 Lezyne pumps.

I've got a small Milkit bottle, I've managed to reset 42c tyres with it, but not necessarily at the first attempt.

Re: Lezyne, I don't find the reversible connector to be a problem, and the little pressure release button does seem to help with preventing valve cores unscrewing. I've got the one Dave B mentioned, and it's noticeably better than the rest of my mini pumps at inflation.

One of the Topeak double shots would be worth a look
