Maps for my phone - alternative to OS Maps?
Am looking for suggestions for maps on my phone.
I normally use OS Maps Premium but the subscription is out and they want £35 to renew.
So thought I would see if there is something better.
I'd like 1:25k maps, to be able to import GPXs and follow them, to be able to download maps offline, and to be able to do so for countries outside the UK.
This is partly fuelled by an upcoming trip to do the Trans European Trail in Spain and France on my Honda CRF next month. Though normal use is in the UK.
Have seen OruxMaps, OSM Maps and Talkie Toaster mentioned before...

My Route App is worth a look. It has car, motorbike, bicycle & walking options.
Route planning can be set from straight & flat to hilly & twisty.

May you always have tail wind.

If you are a Strava subscriber take a look at fatmap.
Great for France, Spain etc IGN maps as well as OS.

Back Country Navigator.
I paid about £12 in 2015 and have reinstalled it on each new phone I've had since for no extra cost. You can download OS maps locally to your device in all scales. There are all sorts of maps for different countries.

I'm a long time Back Country Navigation user as well, but it is more like just an on phone map than a navigation device. IE you can't follow a route.
caching maps is easy, having OS in the UK is great.

I use Outdooractive. It’s pretty good but I think the annual subscription and functionality is similar to OS maps. It’s an international product so may well have better mapping abroad than OS but I’ve not really put it to the test.

Backcountry Navigator Pro looks like the best bet for me..
I see they have a time limited demo version so will download that and give it a go

Well, the demo thing doesn't work.
I just paid the £13 for the one-off Pro version (not the XE subscription model).
So far, so good. Have got it on my phone, changed maps (UK and worldwide), found where I am and imported GPXs.
All I needed :)
