The dullest question I've ever asked (Garmin Dakota mount)

Post by Cheeky Monkey »

I want re-usable zip ties for the Garmin mount (holds a Dakota) that fits on the stem / bars.

Can anyone tell me the width of slots / size of zip tie that will fit? I seem to recall the ones that came in the box are quite skinny and I don't have any of it it front of me to check.

I hope someone stayed awake long enough through this dull requeest to be able to tell me :?

Easily but expensively (I saw the price of gimp masks!). Anyhoo, thanks for that, saved me buying the common but too big size. In the spirit of mutual back-rubbing, would you like some?

I was taught at a very young age, never say no when a man you've never met offers you reusable cableties

May be too late, but I tried some of these and found that ether the ones I had were rubbish, or they just don't tight enough!

Mine rotated loads over every bump

If you only use cable ties on the bars this will happen reguardless of the cable ties. Wrap a piece of old inner tube around your bars than attach the mount on top

This is why people should write reviews and give us detailed (german-stylee) specifications. Haven't you seen the peg review?

:x

I'm sure mine will be fine :?

I put a blob of silicone on the bars, sit the mount on that, then zip tie on and wait for it to set, no more rotating all over the place.

I also had to stick a felt pad, like you put on chair legs, on the back of the garmin (etrex), to make it an interference fit in the mount and stop it ejecting on drop offs. I still have a saftely lanyard too just in case.

Not the best mounts are they
