Today in sunny Yorkshire I rode the trails that looked like streams. The muddy infestations were now bogs. That probably means that the weather is gonna be nasty and miserable Wish I was there...

Tomorrow is my first chance to get some training in…. Have the Welsh hills shrunk with all this recent rain or is it wishful thinking?

That's the spirit, if we all pack and carry everything that's waterproof known to the bike packing world the heatwave will hit it.
A very valid theory on the face of it Johnners. Unfortunately whenever I try it, the opposite happens . I'm hoping to drum up some interest in a September jape soon, but participants in past efforts will remember we packed loads of waterproofs and ended up with torrential rain and 50mph winds for three days.... . The fact that we're smiling probably says something about our characters. So, nah, pack yer knotted hankies, flipflops, and shorts .

Less than a week to go and I've got no idea where I'm kipping, just a vague area to toddle round, maybe two new tracks to check out, nobody to ride with, and successfully ignoring all weather forecasts, so it's going really well so far. Admittedly I've reserved my bike on the train which is a bit of a cop-out.

With that in mind, NO ONE bring sun cream!!!!
With the photos above, I was wondering if a wetsuit was more appropriate!
I spent the morning bike fettling, and vaguely starting to pack. I think I’m almost inevitably going to end up packing more than is necessary, but am looking forward to the weekend.
Yes: "it's going to be perfect weather for bikepacking in the general Dolgellau area: sunny intervals but a few showers, occasional short downpour, warm for the time of year but chilly in pockets, some fog now and then but normally good visibility. Snow possible but unlikely".
That do you? Got it from RegForecast and they're usually reliable but sometimes not .
You and your weather .

I always reckon you can knock 2 or 3 degrees off the general forecast temperatures if you're going up into the hills for the night.
And another 1 or 2 if you camp by a stream in a shallow valley.
High possibility of condensation this weekend given the conditions?
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.
