Cleared customs by 17th. Tracked info then said on 20th "payment of charges, item held, adressee being notified". I have heard nothing since. Never had this before. Does it usually take this long? Anyone got experience of this?
It's a pyranet for my bearpaw lair.
Cheers.

Use the contact details from the tracking page (and parcel reference) and call them direct. I've done it when been in a rush for parcels (Parcel Force and USP, iirc. It just avoids the delay of waiting for notification to turn up, paying it, re-arranging delivery etc etc.
Of course, you might be unlucky and they don't have a facility to do it over the phone

Cheers CM.
Do you mean phone customs or delivery company? Got nowhere fast with the customs helpline. Terrible Muzak put me off holding any longer than 10 mins.

Delivery company. As I understand it they take on responsibility for paying Customs and hence they a)charge/justify the handling fee and b) to ensure they get the money won't deliver until it's paid.
I wouldn't expect to have to deal with Customs direct unless you want to quibble the tax code / bracket applied.
And when you get the bill be prepared for a sting. Handling charges can be anywhere between £10 to £25 or more, over and above tax and VAT, irrelevant of the items value.

Charges paid this morning. (£25). Delivery scheduled for tomorrow.
Their letter about charges and reminder went to the wrong address. Doh. I have been reassured they have the correct address for delivery.
