Lee Craigie - my new hero.
I was watching her GCN+ film about training for the Trans Continental race. At one point she's explaining how being unhinged is ok. She turns to ride off and shouts "f**k hinged!"
It's the best quote I think I've ever heard. Really cut through to how I feel about life.

Re: Lee Craigie - my new hero.

In my roundabout way I was wondering if she popped in Here at all

Lee does have a login here but I guess she's pretty busy most of the time. I think she also did the first ever BB200?
The first time I met her was just after I'd finished the HT550 and she bought me a cup of tea at The Real Food Café

Can you link the film, I’ve not seen it?
Having worked with Lee I can confirm she is utterly nuts in the best possible way

Don't think so or at least I don't recall.I think she also did the first ever BB200?
May the bridges you burn light your way
Re: Lee Craigie - my new hero.
She happily falls into both categories; she certainly gets out and does things but as a great ambassador for cycling and inclusivity she also 'talks' verbally, on social media, and in person at all sorts of meetings

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Oh this is embarrassing. It was a film by Jenny Graham.
Still, both awesomely cool, inspirational people anyway.

2nd one? I'm sure I've chatted to Alan G about it but at my age it could have been anyone and any eventBearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 5:51 pmDon't think so or at least I don't recall.I think she also did the first ever BB200?

Lee Craigie was already my hero after watching Divided last year.
Re: Lee Craigie - my new hero.
To be fair both Lee and Jenny are vaguely exciting folk and so inspirational.rollindoughnut wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 6:19 pm Oh this is embarrassing. It was a film by Jenny Graham.

Re: Lee Craigie - my new hero.
Lee rode the 2016 BB200.
Re: Lee Craigie - my new hero.
She did the BB200 in 2016 - it was after the HT550 that she and Ian Fitz - then she came down to do the BB200 and was quite quick. She didn't like the gates though (qty of!).sean_iow wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 6:22 pm2nd one? She is a great person ( she puts a huge amount into cycling and bringing women (and others) into the sport/hobby/pastime - and I believe is (or was) a Scottish ambassador for cycling).

I enjoyed this Mountain podcast with Lee a few years back ..

Re: Lee Craigie - my new hero.
Didn't she last log in to have a pop at people who were voicing their opinions on her and Rickie Cotter's Tour Divide performance in 2017.
Re: Lee Craigie - my new hero.
I’ve not seen the films Divided and “that other one”, because I was out of loop a bit back then, so unaware of the context to this. Out of curiosity, I had a bit of a search and found this in the Tour Divide 2019 thread;
I guess those that put themselves in the limelight (not meaning you, Stu…) have got to be prepared to take both praise and criticism.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 3:46 pmIn all honesty James, I can't remember ... after I got called a tw@t on social media for allowing you lot to have an opinion, I kinda gave up caring. And not aimed at you but did this topic come up when Lee Cragie rode and filmed with Ricky Cotter?

That was the year I couldn't do it but lent a hand for a bit signing people out as they set off.

Another Lee podcast here, which I rather enjoyed:

Joy through suffering. I reckon at least 50% of that is relevant to our interests here...

In the summer of 2019 I bumped into Lee, Jenny and James Robertson who were doing a match the miles ride while both up on Rannoch Moor. We cycled a couple of miles together before heading our various ways. Got a selfie somewhere. I have seen a couple of Jenny's films and enjoyed them, she is always so positive.

Anyone got a link, sounds interesting .

She once applied for a job beside me in Inverness. I was horrified. Can you imagine working with someone that insufferably cheerful every day?Blackhound wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 6:08 pm In the summer of 2019 I bumped into Lee, Jenny and James Robertson who were doing a match the miles ride while both up on Rannoch Moor.
