As it was so nice and sunny today I went for a ride in The Pentland Hills and overtook a mountainbike policeman going up a steep hill. Poor bugger was in long black trousers and shirt and a dayglo vest. Got chatting and he was out to deter people from sheep worrying that had been reported recently. I mentioned he must be boiling and he said as a cyclist it was ridiculous to have to wear this clothing in this heat, worst of it was he also had a kevlar vest on underneath but as an officer on duty he wasn't allowed to take any of it off. I gave my consolations and rode off.
Saw an officer on a quad bike up there last week, he looked much happier.
Unhappy policeman.
