Hi Gear Solo Tent

Post by PaulG »

Hi

First post after lurking for a while but I now have some time to join in while recovering from a hip replacement last week.

Unfortunately this time off will give me way too much temptation for internet shopping, browsing and trip planning

I was wondering what people thought of this http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/hi-gear-soloista-p217173

Probably not the greatest quality but with an advertised weight of 1.63 kg for £30 so could be worth a go with some mods, lighter pegs etc

Looks pretty similar to the Gelert Solo. In bad weather, you'd want more usable space. I've had a lay down in a Gelert Solo and I would struggle to cope in poor weather. It felt a bit coffin like to me.

I've got 2 person tent (Eurohike backpacker) which is bigger but in wet weather was still a pain in the backside.
I'd want something I can sit up in.
