Seam sealing a sil-tarp

Hello...

Thought it was about time I got my tarp (ID Sil-Tarp2) out of its bag and started making it ready for use. Have some line and line locks and a tube of SilNet.

Two questions...

1. The SilNet instructions say to apply the sealant on the inside of the seam. Any views on that? Is it worth doing both sides?

2. Obviously I need to do the main seam running down the middle, and the stitching around the tie out point on that seam, but should is it also worth doing the seam running around the perimeter of the tarp, and the stitching around all of the other tie out points also?

I'm expecting a 'No' to Qu 1 and a 'Yes' to Qu 2, but we'll see...!

Thanks, Chris

I'd just do the main seam and I'd do the outside ... just don't expect it to look pretty ;)

You can apply masking tape to keep it neat if that sort of thing bothers you!

Not much point doing the perimeter, after a few metres you'll be bored anyway.

Ah - the owner's manual (obviously it was easier to post a question here than actually look at the manual), says:

"For a complete seal, spread the minimum possible amount of sealant evenly onto all needle holes, thread and fabric joints on the inside of the fabric".

I was thinking that doing the perimeter might get a bit dull. And I might run out of sealant
