Bike stand recommendation
I live on a very narrow dead end road and have to clean my bike outside of the front of the house.
I need a bike stand to hold both mountain and road bikes whilst giving them a hose down. Has to be easily moveable with bike on as annoying tourists get lost and come down here despite a multitude of dead end signs. I then have to move and spend hours helping them get out.
Would be great if it could be equally happy with a 3" tyre along with a 23mm road tyre. I had looked at those ones that hook through the BB but this won't work with all of the bikes. Also needs to stand up to the bike getting a decent hosing as our water pressure is very high. Fingers will go in ears if you say don't hose. Bonus points if rear wheel can be spun or back pedalling works to facilitate chain lubing.
Any suggestions?

Re: Bike stand recommendation
Is it a workshop stand you're looking for Dave? I've spent a few hours looking at them recently for my nephew ... something that quickly folds up, yet is stable enough for swinging on BB and such.
From what I can see, best of the bunch (without spending hundreds) is the Lifeline workstand. I think it folds to about a metre when not in use.

Issue with that'll be getting water all over it - it'll stop folding pretty quickly!
I've an old stand from Giant that was a display tool for the shop. Works well on all bar my track bike:

I have a workstand stu.
And I used to have one of those Greg but hated it. Didn't find it very stable.

I rate my AndyStand but I think Dave said the BB ones won't work for all his bikes.

Is there a wall near your hoseing point? If so I'd bolt something like this https://www.pedalpro.com/pedalpro-wall- ... stand.html
Which, with a liberal coating of grease on the clamp, could hold your seatpost or top tube. Also doubles a a weapon to beat those pesky tourists.

Ooh ooh, how about a Topeak Flashstand? No idea if they're any good.

Probably not what you're after, but by far the best I've ever used was this one: https://www.wiggle.co.uk/feedback-sport ... -workstand

The flash stand might do the job and I know Dan Joyce.

I have one of these which works quite well as long as you have a hollow BB. Transmission cleaning/gentle pedalling is possible without the bike falling off. It's designed to work with Shimano BBs so you need to pull the rubber boot off the axle/spindle thing for it to fit SRAM BBs.

I'm still using a 25 year old folding workstand from Edinburgh Bicycle Coop that looks just like the Lifeline one. It's always been used for washing my bikes and still works fine.

Re: Bike stand recommendation
Ah okay, disregard my suggestion then. Definitely won't work well with square taper BBs (you can balance them on the stand but it's a bit precarious).Cheeky Monkey wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 12:55 pmOi!Jurassic wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 12:42 pm I have one of these which works quite well as long as you have a hollow BB. Got one for my fatbike. Tied a snowshoe to it.
Great!
Re: Bike stand recommendation
Apparently there's a company making "invisible stands ", which, from what I gather, are perspex wedge shaped jobbies, that you use to prop your bike up against the crank. This gives the appearance of an impossible lean, if that makes sense?
No idea where to buy them though.
