I think Mike weighed it up but no idea how far his idea got Tony.

"One Man and His Bike" (Ebury Press, 2011) by Mike Carter describes one such journey. It's an uplifting, entertaining read
.

May you always have tail wind.
Re: cycling the British coast line?
I just finished a book where the guy did just that.
One Man and his Bike by Mike Carter.
Edit - dang, Pete beat me too it. Unfortunately the book it out on lend elsewhere already or I would have offered it to you.

Re: cycling the British coast line?
The coastline of Highland region is almost 5,000 km, Argyll and Bute is a further 3,700km. I can see why a few shortcuts might be a good idea.
Is there an "official" coastline route for folk to follow? I'm thinking maybe something a few have already done to set done sort of standard.
I've done a good bit of a Scottish circumnavigation, including the Scottish-English border. I still have Ayrshire, the Clyde and Argyll to do.

Re: cycling the British coast line?
This is from the thing about the guy walking the UK coast:
My most terrifying moment came in Holderness in East Yorkshire, where the cliffside is being eroded by five metres every year. Over time, roads crumble into the sea and whole villages have been lost to the waves. I didn’t know any of this, however, and was walking on the beach below the cliffs, assuming that when night fell and the tide came in, I’d be able to find a pathway up to the clifftop. But as the tide approached, I could see no way off the beach. When the water lapped over my boots, I panicked and thought I’d have to scramble up the cliff face, goodness knows how. I began to jog along the beach, then broke into a fearful run, my torch bouncing around as I tried to beat the tide. Eventually, and probably just in time, I succeeded in hauling myself up some steep ground, collapsing at the top and panting with adrenalin.
Choose your route wisely

OK. This is most of the bits I've done.

There are some small sections missing that I have ridden, including along the Firth of Forth in Edinburgh.

The names a throwback to my old car I built actually! If you google substandard hot rods it will make some sense - a heavily modified 50’s car made by standard motor company ( and hated by the purists). The car was sold years back but have still kept the name on forums/instagram etc! Boring waffle over!

Oh that's a shame! Cos it means something entirely different here!substandard wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 8:26 amThe names a throwback to my old car I built actually! Stu has a swear filter set to change sh1t to 'substandard'. This creates some puzzlement initially when people talk about being knee-deep in substandard but it has become part of the lingua franca of this place now.
So you have made a good start here by having a quality username, however unintended it may have been.

Haha that’s pretty funny! On a previous forum I used almost every expletive corrected to ‘gammon slipper’
