Post by JohnClimber »

My local Lidl has 4 seat packs, 3 front bags and just 4 frame bogs in stock.
So be quick

Opened this thread thinking it was going to be about riding your bike to the swimming pool. Disappointed... 🤣

On topic though, did you buy any of it? What did the quality look like?
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.

Dam auto correct from Lido to Lidl
Now edited.

Bought the rear pack for my commuter bike and just fitted it.
Quality is spot on although the straps are a little too long so will need trimming.
The front roll bag looks tough and fixes to the front bars of another bike well, the the straps around the roll bag are a little too short, but the bag won't expand when over filled so it's not really a problem.

As for volume that both take a loosly compressed Cumulus 450 quilt with a bit of room to spare.
So not wildcat bags volume but ok for short over nighters or rides where you really need to TLS.

For £9.99 each they are handy to have as a spare or for light use on shorter trips or even just commuting.
Only time will tell

I’m afraid I did partake in the offer. These will take me on my first foray into bikepacking and whilst I appreciate the quality isn’t going to be great, if they last me one overnighter or two, and I get the bug and want to carry on, then they’ve done their job. I’ll look to upgrade. If I find it’s not for me then they’ll serve on my commute until they fall apart on my return journey and I haven’t had a big outlay.

I picked mine up from Alphington, Exeter this morning and they had perhaps 10 of each in stock

That's the spirit mate,
The seat pack looks the business although it may sway a bit more than my Wildcat harness which also carries more.
The first one to upgrade is the front one as it's not a massive volume, hit as you said, it's a great way to get out there, you will need a small ruck sack on your first overnighter, unless you are a very minimalist rider, but that's not the end of the world

I got a seat bag and the handlebar bag..... the seatbag is more stable than my Planet X one and fits the bike loads better, it is slightly shorter but is still large enough for my tent. The front bag when closed up properly is not very big but would be perfect for keeping a down sleeping bag dry - both bags look solid and I will continue to use them just to save my Ortleib and Sea 2 Summit stuff for bigger rides.

Good job I bought the Lidl saddle pack to work today and loaded it up with my pop and pot noodles for the next few days, as Archie's (my dog's) next 6 months £630 worth of tablets arrived today and they all fitted in along with the battery for the rear light too.

For £9.99 it's paid for itself on day one
