Garmin Edge 1000 can’t find satellites...
My Garmin is a couple of years old and has worked without problems til now. I mostly use it to record rides for my Strava account.
Last week it started having trouble locating satellites, so it would take maybe 5 minutes to find satellites then lose them as soon as you start moving. I haven’t changed anything, set up on bars, position etc. It’s now basically unusable.
I did a reset but that hasn’t made any difference.
Any advice please?

Can you switch between 'satellite providers'?
I think GONAS(?) is the usual one but I am sure my etrex has another one available.
Anyway if you can switch you can see if it is your device or the signal?
Sometimes satellites are switched off or change accuracy depending on 'situations' for which the satellites were originally intended.

Don’t right it off yet!
My Oregon did the same on last weekends BB200, good job I had a back-up!
Thought it was odd as it’s never played up before, had a search & it looks like a few people have been having problems recently. There’s a thread on STW, think Colin mentioned on there that there’s some war games going on atm & that sometimes messes with gps?
Edit: Here’s the thread-

Thanks Mariner will look at that. I do think it is the device though because it will connect then lose it again seconds later.

I have not fired up my etrex to check but seem to remember there is a screen that shows the satellite positions and their signal strength.
Edge might be different.

So maybe said warGames might have also been the cause of mine losing sattalite signal (wahoo Roam). Had to turn it of and on again and reload map and then it found sattalite with an initial message of 'poor gps'...Wotsits wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2019 11:04 am Don’t right it off yet!

Re: Garmin Edge 1000 can’t find satellites...
I don't think it's your device. I've had the same issue with my Edge 1000 as have others that I know, last Sunday it was fine until half way through the ride when it suddenly started losing the signal every few seconds.
I switched the GPS mode from GPS + GLONASS to just GPS and it's been fine since. I'd give that a go and see if that makes a difference.

Operation Joint Warrior is currently taking place. It's possible that some GPS activity has been modified. I think it ends on Friday so might be worth trying again at the weekend.
Re: Garmin Edge 1000 can’t find satellites...
Have just switched the gps mode to GPS only and it seems to have worked. Cheers for the help

A reboot in Barmouth helped my wahoo. Certainly something jamming it.

At the weekend not only did we have the clock, route, ground conditions, weather & re-fuel options to contend with, but NATO too!!

Re: Garmin Edge 1000 can’t find satellites...
Garmin have just issued a new software upgrade for my Oregon that includes "A fix for GPS+GLONASS". Might be worth checking there isn't something similar for your Edge, Could be that either GPS or GLONASS have made some sort of change.
