Good read that Dave. I knew Chickenlegs had done the route earlier in the year and I've added it to my list.

When you do the section that includes my little Island let me know and I'll ride it with you if you like, I also know the locations of all the good cafes on that part of the route

I’ve ridden Tavistock to totnes a few times. I actually prefer going over the top via princetown as it’s one big long slog of a climb and then mostly downhill to totnes. If you go around the edge of the moors you seem to be constantly climbing in and out of valleys.

I was thinking of you yesterday as I was up at Belstone on the Northern end of Dartmoor. I have been meaning to do the North-South Dartmoor traverse for years and never got around to it yet. I reckon fuel up in Okehampton, then head South with a bivvy out on the moor and then ride home second day, rather than thrash it out in one day...

I'll let you know when I sort out a hint of a date if you fancy it...

Did you have the guidebook or just the GPX file? Definitely a good inspiration for a ride. Also agree with you & Jam Bo, that bit around the bottom of the moors is a pain!

Hopefully in February. I need to sort out a decent logistic or route back to Devon. I'll be restricted by a long weekend as well so no more than 3 days riding.

Ok. Kithurst/Chantry Hill on the SDW is about 5 miles as the crow flies south of my house, should that be of interest..there may be assistance available
