Packable Down jackets

That fit inside their own pocket or the like?
I’ve a Patagonia jacket, but trying to get something that would pack down (even) smaller.
Granted, as it will be XL, I may we’ll be on a hiding to nothing..

Packing down in a pocket doesn't mean it'll be small. Some mine pack big, some small, depends on how big the pocket is

Sometimes a stuff sack or rolling and using a strap makes it smaller

Also worth bearing in mind that (generally) the smaller they pack = the less warm they are.

It’s easy to get caught up in chasing weight or pack size and end up with kit that doesn’t quite work.

I have a Montane Featherlite which has been warm ( temps down to just below freezing has been my usage) and squishes down fairly small. Would be smaller if it didn't have a hood.

To be fair, I just want it as a spare, rode Afan at the weekend, and wanted something to throw on while standing around grabbing a wet etc.
So doesn’t need to be amazingly warm, just to keep the chill off.

Personally that's when I'd be using a synthetic top, doesn't mind the damp

Arxteryx nucleii jacket is well worth the money, really small packsize but synthetic

Medium Montbell Plasma packs to roughly the size of loaf of Soreen or smaller. But that's with its own stupid-light stuff sack.

Sounds like a down gilet from Primark would do the job.

Just stuff the jacket into whatever bag and let it fill up the space rather than using the pocket. Comfier (if it's a rucksack) and a better use of space. Saves a few £ for tea and cake too.

Following a bit of a packing error for Torino Nice, I got a down jacket from Decathlon. £40, slightly smaller packing than my Patagonia, has a hood and warm enough to keep the chill off. Also, handily, at price point that you're less likely to flinch at when you dip it in sheep poo or catch the sleeve in the chain.
