Re: Gravel porn
The top tube to the bottom of the head tube and down tube to the top of the head tube set up was developed by Norton for the '50 manx:-
https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/cont ... ormat=500w
They later added an extra brace from the top of the head tube back to the top tube to stop the front end bending back under front end impacts. When they used them on the scramblers the head tube used to bend out so by the end of a race the engine was nearly touching the floor...
Makes for a very stiff front end but a bit of overkill for a bicycle. But it looks cool...

Looks funky but so very wrong from an engineering perspective. I imagine that’s why they added the top tube brace.K1100T wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 11:46 pm If you had issues with the aesthetics of the Allied Able, then look away now... All the deets are on bikepacking.com, this is the Farr Twin-T.

As pi$$-takes go this is a good one, and excellent attention to detail with the crocs pedal straps!. Got to like 'Bicycle Pubes' humour. And yes, that is a baguette on the fork leg, and bananas on the front

Felt get into the aero grav grav game, with the Breed Carbon.

Re: Gravel porn
I've noticed a few UK adds for gravel bikes involve people doing jumps on them, even though most users will just be bombing along forest roads or the smoother Bridleways. Racy aero lines and knobbly tyres seems to be quite the thing at the mo. 'Spose they will be good into a headwind...

Re: Gravel porn
I suppose that's simply a way of pushing the 'do all' nature of them ... 3 minutes of someone tootling down a towpath trying to avoid walkers and dogsh1t may prove a poor marketing deviceI've noticed a few UK adds for gravel bikes involve people doing jumps on them,

I'm not going to lie, that Felt looks lovely. Hell, it can even take a front mech.

Re: Gravel porn
Yeah, lots of adverts full of 'stoke'. But just like mtb advertising there's a gap between marketing expectation and reality. I went for a lovely 'gravel' ride yesterday on my drop bar bike, but I didn't need any aero design for the many sections of clattery rock hard tracks or bridleways, the frequency of bumps enforced the speed limit somewhat (and my fitness too!). That was with 47mm tyres too...anyway, no sign of gravel biking running out of trend just yet

Love to hear the design brief for that thing. " Take a basic bike and make it look sh1t" perhaps?

And that answers the “how can two triangles together look so different” question*

Is that picture of a real bike. Could be my eyes but it looks 'computer generated'?

Re: Gravel porn
I thought that. It does look like a graphic. There obviously is a real bike but that picture doesn't look like a photograph, unless it's been highly filtered? The shading doesn't look real. What caught my eye was there didn't appear to be any bottle bosses, but there are in the photos.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 12:12 pm Is that picture of a real bike. I don't get what's going on with the TT other than to add a little bit more certainty to the likelihood you're going to smack your private parts on it.

Re: Gravel porn
Thinking of Stus comment and diagram on the 'New bike gear thread' I guess it's manus desperately trying to make their bikes look different. With carbon fibre you can do such stuff without as many design inefficiencies as with metal.
