Re: Gravel porn
I really liked my gravel bike off-road
Or at least that’s what I told myself
Then I bought a modern (long and slack 29er hardtail, a Specialized epic carbon)
Oh my Lord I was so wrong.
That said, my next bike in a few weeks time will be the new specialized diverge GRX Di2.

I thought that photo had been buried in a hermetically-sealed vault with a 100-year timelock..... <shudder>

Big review of the Allied Able on Cycling Tips. I'm sure some will have issues with the aesthetics...

Re: Gravel porn
Chuff me that's one hell of a cassette (possibly an optical illusion with the deeper section rims). Though strangely I find it kinda funky.
Would have to go way wider, flared and higher on the bars for me though. Position looks way too "roadie" for me.

I like the idea of moving the chainstays, it takes advantage of the carbon construction being able to cope with different construction methods.
I'd have like to have seen bigger tyres to maximise the benefits though. Otherwise, quite like it.

Re: Gravel porn
I quite like it. Can't get used to seeing bikes without a seatstay bridge though.

If you had issues with the aesthetics of the Allied Able, then look away now... All the deets are on bikepacking.com, this is the Farr Twin-T.

But hey, you can an alternative to the grav, grav, version:

Re: Gravel porn
I don't mind that but I'm surprised they feel the need for 3 braces on the downtubes. Might not look too bad if they were equally spaced but as they are, they look like an after-thought.

Once there's a full frame bag and a bottle on the underside of the down-tube in it wont be as obvious?Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 10:43 am Aye but I like to think there'd be a neater solution.
The only bit of that bike I like is the sliding dropouts but then they ruined that as well by putting gears on it

Re: Gravel porn
That's weird!
On the one hand it just looks unnecessarily complicated and tubes for tubes sake, but I wouldn't know. But then there is something oddly appealing about the looks that seems to be growing on me
Don't think it's helped by the semi-fluro and multi-hued colour scheme or the graphics. Hark at me

Yeah, I thought it was a Yeti at first.
Would I buy one? No.
Would I ride one if someone gave it to me? Abso-bloody-lutely. I think it looks great.
