Edit - On the subject of lights... anyone got any ideas on the best way to pad the underside of the exposure helmet mount? I found it REALLY uncomfortable pressed into my head.

Yikes! Why would a helmet light press into your head? Surely that's dangerous as well as uncomfortable

It's the way the mount works. It screws through from the top, and yeah... now I think about it, it isn't particularly safe.

A: put your pad over the stud, not under it.

That's not my helmet, it's just an example, and there's no padding where the mount is.

Yep the Revo is brilliant, much brighter on the Son hub and it was on the SP hub, especially at slow speeds.

If you have a go pro mount built in to your helmet, you can get exposure mounts that go on that. I got mine from http://www.racewaredirect.co/shop/expos ... unt-small/

I find my Exposure Helmet mount to be absolutely fine, don't notice it at all on my helmet? It sits flush with the helmet as most of the gubbins are essentially in the hole?

If you're after a different type of helmet mount, try the TwoFish Lock Block style ones, or the Lezyne one. I use a Lezyne Macro Duo on my helmet for commuting and it's great. Used the Two Fish one for mounting a normal torch to my lid (or to the bars)

Its my first bb200. Id really just like to finish. 32 hours seems possible from my arm chair and what i think im capable of. Time will tell.

Those Exposure helmet mounts are crash friendly. I had an over the bars landing on my head crash a while ago and the mount snapped off easily. Luckily the light wasn't in the clip, but I think that would have snapped off also.

Strategy wise I intend to start late (9.30 ish)then keep riding until I stop. I'll stop for food in Knighton, then decide if I am kipping out and ride accordingly. Looking forward to it now....

I've had two tree/exposure Diablo interactions

1 snapped my neck back, which hurt a lot, and ripped the Diablo out the mount, which was looped through my helmet via the lanyard, and out my helmet ripping straight through it

The other ripped the socket of the mount out the cup, snapped back in afterwards

So all in, the mount is pretty solid

These are highly coveted, especially the black versions which require a completion in less than 24 hours. A blue one will be yours should you return within 28 hours and if you 'just' manage to make it back, you'll go home clutching a green which you can sew onto your frame bag, so the bikepacking world will know you're double dead hard.

My stategy is to plod around at my own pace and will be happy just to finish. In fact I'm that slow I could just use a candle for illumination.

That said, I've run tested my light battery and it was still running on low after 40 hrs so in the absence of a sudden outbreak of nuclear winter, it should last the course.

I'll be looking to run through as much of the night as possible but be kitted out for kip. As long as I make the chippy at Knighton before it closes, I'll be mildly content.

No, that was purely a 'one off' for 3 blacks for the first 3 years. However, I might look at doing something else for services to the cause
