BB200 strategies?

Re: BB200 strategies?
I was impressed at how bright that Revo was pointing downwards. Sadly no dynamo hub for me though.
Edit - On the subject of lights... anyone got any ideas on the best way to pad the underside of the exposure helmet mount? I found it REALLY uncomfortable pressed into my head.

Re: BB200 strategies?
Yikes! Why would a helmet light press into your head? Surely that's dangerous as well as uncomfortable

Re: BB200 strategies?
It's the way the mount works. It screws through from the top, and yeah... now I think about it, it isn't particularly safe.

Re: BB200 strategies?
That's not my helmet, it's just an example, and there's no padding where the mount is.
Re: BB200 strategies?
Cant remember who makes this could be Light & Motion.
I mount my Joystick using the handlebar mount.

Yep the Revo is brilliant, much brighter on the Son hub and it was on the SP hub, especially at slow speeds.Richard G wrote:I was impressed at how bright that Revo was pointing downwards. Sadly no dynamo hub for me though.

If you have a go pro mount built in to your helmet, you can get exposure mounts that go on that. I got mine from http://www.racewaredirect.co/shop/expos ... unt-small/
Re: BB200 strategies?
I find my Exposure Helmet mount to be absolutely fine, don't notice it at all on my helmet? It sits flush with the helmet as most of the gubbins are essentially in the hole?
If you're after a different type of helmet mount, try the TwoFish Lock Block style ones, or the Lezyne one. I use a Lezyne Macro Duo on my helmet for commuting and it's great. Used the Two Fish one for mounting a normal torch to my lid (or to the bars)

Re: BB200 strategies?
Its my first bb200. Id really just like to finish. 32 hours seems possible from my arm chair and what i think im capable of. Time will tell.
Re: BB200 strategies?
Those Exposure helmet mounts are crash friendly. I had an over the bars landing on my head crash a while ago and the mount snapped off easily. Luckily the light wasn't in the clip, but I think that would have snapped off also.
Strategy wise I intend to start late (9.30 ish)then keep riding until I stop. I'll stop for food in Knighton, then decide if I am kipping out and ride accordingly. Looking forward to it now....

Re: BB200 strategies?
I've had two tree/exposure Diablo interactions
1 snapped my neck back, which hurt a lot, and ripped the Diablo out the mount, which was looped through my helmet via the lanyard, and out my helmet ripping straight through it
The other ripped the socket of the mount out the cup, snapped back in afterwards
So all in, the mount is pretty solid

Bugger, I've definitely got a cold. Thought it was just a slight dry throat in the morning and a small sniffle, but no, deffo a cold
It's not terrible, and I'm still planning on turning up. But I'm not going to be in any fit shape to pull off doing it in one hit, so looks like I'll be packing a bit more gear then. Oh well, I think I'll be alreet

Buggerroo, I'm out!!!
With less than 48 hours to go I'm still not eating properly, not sleeping and I keep getting dizzy.
I'm much better than before but in no condition to be doing something daft like this.
But fear not as I'll still see some of you on Saturday morning as I'm going to stay in the place I'd booked for Friday night, come and say hello to you poor bastards as you leave (and Jase I've got your feedbag to give back to you) and then go ride at Coed Y Brenin (so all is not lost).
The wait for a black badge continues.....

Re: BB200 strategies?

Re: BB200 strategies?
These are highly coveted, especially the black versions which require a completion in less than 24 hours. A blue one will be yours should you return within 28 hours and if you 'just' manage to make it back, you'll go home clutching a green which you can sew onto your frame bag, so the bikepacking world will know you're double dead hard.what are these badges to which people refer?

Re: BB200 strategies?
My stategy is to plod around at my own pace and will be happy just to finish. In fact I'm that slow I could just use a candle for illumination.
That said, I've run tested my light battery and it was still running on low after 40 hrs so in the absence of a sudden outbreak of nuclear winter, it should last the course.
I'll be looking to run through as much of the night as possible but be kitted out for kip. As long as I make the chippy at Knighton before it closes, I'll be mildly content.

Are there still gold ones for three black badges worth of riding?Bearbonesnorm wrote:These are highly coveted, especially the black versions which require a completion in less than 24 hours. Re: BB200 strategies?
No, that was purely a 'one off' for 3 blacks for the first 3 years. However, I might look at doing something else for services to the causeAre there still gold ones for three black badges worth of riding?
