Off next week with the wife on a couple of week cycle touring (fast and light with bike packing gear only) round Slovenia.
Going to be staying in a mix of hotels and camping, but our route takes us not that far away for a detour to Venice for a couple of days rest in a nice hotel mid tour.
Nothing booked as we wont know the day till nearer the time.
But.....cycles and Venice doesn't seem to mix!!
Anybody know any more details?
As I thought we'd get the train to Venice old island, then push the bikes to the hotel (on the same island) and then sorting the bikes in the hotel basement etc, but even pushing bikes around the place seems to be banned!!
Didn't really want to stay on the mainland as we want to experience Venice in the evening as well as the day time

If you haven't already seen this it seems to clarify which areas are bike friendly.

Yep, I've seen that but it seems to say the island of Lido is the only one which is cycle friendly. But how do you actually get there?
As when you google bikes on the water buses they say it's a nightmare and up to the driver if they let you on.
Like I say I don't want to actually ride my bike there.

Stayed on Lido a few years back and the water buses just seemed like a free for all. Alternatively, if I remember correctly, the water taxis weren't overly expensive
