Various cheap goodies from a planet x sale...

Some bright blue and grippy selcof bartape
Even brighter blue lightweight heatset placers (I've saved a whopping 4g!!!) but they're shiny, dirt cheap and look nice.
10x Vittoria ultralight road inner tubes, again, dirt cheap.
Carbon fiber bottle cage, with bright blue accents (there's a theme here)
Some bottle cage, tool bottle pot thingy for a quid that I'm going to try insulating and using for insulin.
Various anodized bolts (bright blue ofcourse) for various parts on the bike.
Carbon fibre handlebar plugs.

All cheap, useless but cool looking bits to finish up the look of my road bike, at 50p to £2 for the stuff it was worth a go.
Also with it was stuff for my partners bike, a 1x chainring and new shifter cables for her bike, ill be converting tomorrow

Oh, and lastly, a pair of cheap top caps that I'm going to send off to be engraved with "f*ck Diabetes" and "powered by Insulin". Hell yeah!

Posties been busy, this morning dropping off a box from alpkit containing a cloud cover and some base layers.
As well as our regular fabric shipment I snuck in a few bits from our suppliers like shock cord, dyneema, toggles and buckles and the sort.

Will still use the microtarp for micro adventures, but this gives nice sitting up in the dry options, getting changed in privacy options and is so stupidly light I thought they had forgotten to put it in the box when I picked up the package! - Tarp is massive, with a zip, and only weighs 367 grams, the pole is 51 grams

Alpamayo front harness, a lovely looking thing. Love the way it makes room for the cables.

Two new disc rotors. Brakes had felt spongy even after bleeding, then put in B+ wheels (which have very new rotors) and the brakes were pin sharp = light going on! The rotors on the 29er wheels were 2 years old with nearly 6000Km of usage.

Blast. My finger slipped while browsing PHD's website and I've ended up with a Minim Ultra K (1000fp) bag. I know the summer bedding "du jour" is a quilt but I quite like being able to slip inside something (*), and if it's good enough for Ian it's good enough for moi. The (lack of) weight is insane (3xx grammes for suggested +8c), for a moment I thought I was getting into the stuff sac by mistake until I noticed there was a hood. Couple of extra grammes for ultrashell outer as I don't "do" bivvy bags. Depressingly my bag is now lighter than my shelter, and probably just about everything else including its own drybag, so that needs some thought, and yes I know the lightest kit is that which one doesn't take at all.... probably time to go and look at http://www.piano-tuning.co.uk/blog/ again. Kit is like an arms race, sigh.

(*) Ohhh go on then, there's no way of avoiding a Swiss Toni quote is there. "Going camping Paul is a bit like making love to a beautiful woman: first you erect your pole, then you open the flaps, and slip inside the old bag". I know I know, cringeworthy but hilarious in a Fast Showy sort of way.

I received a pair of these this morning in the post and I must admit I'm a bit confused.

The diagram on the packaging seems to be claiming that the design specifically for swept back bars corrects the angle of the wrist from the incorrect position caused by the sweep of the bar.

Isn't that the reason we bought bars with so much sweep?

That sweep is intended to correct the incorrect position of the wrist we had whilst using the straight bars we had before, no???

Having used my Jones bars with esi chunky grips, my wrists do feel like they are slightly kinked and I get nerve pain.
I've fitted the new grips and they do seem like an improvement (on a 5 minute spin around the block) but time will tell I guess.
I figured that they're worth a punt for £20 as I could be missing out on the final piece of the Holy Grail of bike comfort!
