I thought "The wide range of gears available with a single ring at the front means the days are numbered for the front derailleur on bikes other than specialist touring bikes." was a bit of a bold statement. Though I've run 1x on my MTB for two years now.
Not quite. Looks the same, but differentTeetosugars wrote:You mean a generic Chinese frame frame, painted, and stickered up by Shand, and then 3 x the price..

Me neither.firedfromthecircus wrote:Not sure that is a good move by Shand. I'm no branding expert but does it not pull the whole brand down?

You mean it's what Trek use as their Stache...Pat wrote:Even the generic one is a trek stache copy!
Stache is aluminium, Nick! Interested in trying the Oykel. Love the Stache, but it's a little flexy around the BB. Be interesting to see whether this is stiffer. I've not looked at the geom charts, but the Stache would benefit from being an inch or so longer in the top tube. If the Oykel ticks that box, hmm...Teetosugars wrote:You mean it's what Trek use as their Stache...Pat wrote:Even the generic one is a trek stache copy!
You mean they've painted it.Ian wrote:the frame you see on the their site has some subtle differences to the other "generic" link posted above.
Maybe it has gold and diamonds laid in with it to increase the value.SRS wrote:Is it possible that mould is the same but the carbon layup is different?
Genuinely interested to hear what these are..Ian wrote:Had to check for a moment that I wasn't on Singletrack World...
Like I said further up, maybe even twice, Shand have made some investment in this frame over and above what you can get off the shelf (and I don't mean just paint it).
