Additional 4 pitches in the Family Field booked for Wench, Matt, Brothersmith and NorwayCalling.wildgecko wrote:It seems we have a quorum so Lower Field booked at Graig Wen for Sat 18 Jun:
Those responded so far:
Wildgecko: 2 Adults, 2 Kids
Ian: 2 Adults, 2 Kids
Ianfitz: 2 Adults, 2 Kids (at most)
Taylor: 2 Adults, 2 Kids
Gentjim: 2 Adults, 2 Kids
Burty: 1 Adult, 1 Kid
Barney: 1 Adult, 1 Kid
We should get away with that on the lower field as we've only got small tents. Any more takers would likely need to camp in the upper fields.
Regards
Simon

All systems go for 18/19 June.

Re: 2016 Teddy bearbones
Hey guys, I would like to do this weekend too, however I feel that a camp site closer to the train station will me a bit better suit to me as they will accommodate my kit sent up to them during the week before we arrive by bike.
So we will be around for Saturdays jaunts and beach fun.
Il Pm my number to whom ever is in charge for liason purposes and itinerary.

Welcome to TBB. I've got the honour of arranging this year's event. My responsibilities extend to nominating a start point and time (Dollgellau @ 1300) and coordinating a group campsite booking at Graig Wen. After that it's pretty much go with the flow; no set plans or timings. I'll push out some more details soon so watch here for those.
I assume from your post that you don't have the ability to carry your camping kit on your bikes then? How many of you will there be?

Re: 2016 Teddy bearbones
At the moment it is two adults, one 6yr oldchild and a toddler.
I don't drive at the present time so every thing will be shipped.
At the moment I am just waiting on the possibility of a log cabin at the site I mentioned, if it is a no go then I barney has just emailed me to see if he can help, it is just takeing a travel cot camping that is the big bulky thiny as my little climbing 20month is a bit quick on his feet and fussy to where he sleeps.
There is no drama for me to ship stuff there and back I do it quite alot.
I will look out for more details closer to the time
P.S.
We was able to get the cabin for the missus and toddler, so me and the oldest will camp out side the cabin at the same site as every one else. I will now bring my equipment up on the bikes. Thanks Mark for offer of transporting goods. But we have its sussed now, we arrive Friday amd depart Monday, yay for mini hoilday.

Re: 2016 Teddy bearbones
Is there a planned start time? Same route?
Re: 2016 Teddy bearbones
Slight change of plan from us, Erin and I are camping in the lower field (as previously arranged) but Mrs Barney and Nell are staying in the camper van in the top field (I've booked them in independently of us).Fantastic Mr Tickie Bollocks wrote:Is there a planned start time? Same route?
We'll be going straight to site and then I suspect we'll just wait on the trail for the peleton to come past enroute to Barmouth.
Wasn't last year's Grand Depart something like 1pm from the car park?
Wait for me...
Re: 2016 Teddy bearbones
Grand Depart 1300 from car park at Dolgellau end of the Mawddach Trail at junction between A493 and A470. Same route as previous years: cycle along Mawddach Trail to Barmouth for ice cream, beach and food. Cycle back to Graig Wen campsite for campfires, marshmallows etc. Sunday programme will be crowdsourced during Saturday! Last year we went back to Barmouth for more ice cream before returning to Dolgellau and then home.

Just a thought regarding the weekend, we'll be going direct to site in the camper van.
Does anyone want anything bringing, I'm thinking possibly adult beverage for Saturday night... port and cheese for Taylor?

Mmmmmmm, port and cheese.

Re: 2016 Teddy bearbones
Seriously if anyone wants a few cans, bottles or dairy produce then I'd be happy to bring them along and sort out payment later.Taylor wrote:Mmmmmmm, port and cheese.
I'll probably need a day or twos notice so I can nip to the shops

If it's really ok, I'd be keen to have a few beers (bitter / ale of some sort, not fussy) and a small thing of milk. Will happily send across funds.

Re: 2016 Teddy bearbones
I have planned to stock up from the Barmouth co-op by Barmouth station, it is only 3 1/2 mile away, especially as I will be arriving Friday lunchtime and it is cheaper on the wallet to knock up a spag bol for the first night plus both my boys eat that like its going out of fashion and my eldest want to do a YouTube video for trangia cooking
Also for those who have better halfs to watch the kids we could organise a shop jaunt and take it in turns to watch the bikes whilst other shop, may be a good way of getting bacon and milk in in the morning?

38mm!!
But yes, currently looks ok for the rest of weekend (touch wood).
Looking forward to this.
Random query - I'm assuming hammocks wouldn't work in the lower field where we're camping? I will bring a tent for me and the boys if so.

Re: 2016 Teddy bearbones
From my recollection , you could probably bicycle a hammock or two but the ground between the trees is not flat and you will likely have to pitch a bit further apart than you'd like. Anyone remember differently? Sgentjim wrote: Random query - I'm assuming hammocks wouldn't work in the lower field where we're camping? I will bring a tent for me and the boys if so.

Cheers Si,
Not sure if I mentioned it, but FWIW we will now be two kids, one adult. (Laura decided a weekend of bikepacking in Wales was something she could live without. Mind boggling, but there you go...)

Burgers the size of our heads and giant marshmallows . . . The theme for this weekend seems to be supersized junk food - the boys will be happy!

Re: 2016 Teddy bearbones
Is the booking just the Saturday or is anyone heading over/up/down on Friday?
Cheers!
Cheers!
Re: 2016 Teddy bearbones
Group Booking is just Saturday night, I'm sure they'll have room for Friday if you call them.
Re: 2016 Teddy bearbones
With the timing of a maestro - we now have plague in the house.

My youngest (4) has a pretty grotty temperature.
He says he still wants to go, but we bivvied on Ivinghoe beacon two weeks ago when he was "fine" but he had woken by 3am, not slept again and then vomited in the morning. Didn't endear my "adventures" to his mother entirely.
I'm wobbling slightly as we currently stand... Sorry.
Will check in tomorrow with a situation report.
