1 man tents?
So after the weekend I have decided I want a small light 1 man tent!
Don't really care how small it is to sleep in as I am not tall and it will still be a palace compared to a bivi bag.
Considering a Gelert solo and swapping out the poles for alu and maybe swapping the guys and pegs for lighter stuff out my spares which I am guessing would bring it down to just over 1kg for not much money? Anything else I should consider on a budget?

I've got one of these - http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/jamet ... -tent.html
It's slightly heavier than the Gelert but, it's bigger, already has decent poles/pegs, is a hybrid double skin so sets up as one, has a big porch and will be cheaper once you've upgraded the Gelert. It really is a very good tent regardless of price ... I'd still think it was good if they cost twice as much
I also have a Force Ten Helium 100 which I rate but they're not really cheap.

Or maybe one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Force-10-Vite ... 675wt_1156
Single skin but very well vented, room enough for two but light/small enough for one. Once again I can vouch for how good they are (yes I have far too many tents/shelters). The one in the link is the cheapest I've ever seen them at.

Re: 1 man tents?
cheers, the red one is a bit red though!
not so keen on the single skin, was hoping to leave the door open and just have the mesh if its not raining
suppose it depends what I would have to spend on poles to convert the Gelert as to whether its still a bargain, will have a look about some more

Just to clarify the Force Ten does have an inner midge-proof door so you can leave the outer door open without being eaten alivenot so keen on the single skin, was hoping to leave the door open and just have the mesh if its not raining

Re: 1 man tents?
I have a gelert solo and I think for £30 they are OK, however, size is not great. You can't cook in it and getting dressed in it is almost impossible. Don't know if upgrading poles/pegs would be worth it.

These are rated well in outdoor magazines.Made by Terra Nova under a different brand name and a copy of their Laser Competition
Get some Ti pegs for it and you'll save a few more grams.

The Decathlon Quechua T2 Ultralight Pro isn't a bad tent, have used mine backpacking a few times, weighs in at 1.8kg on my scales.

Six Moons 'Skyscape Scout'!!!!!
i've just taken delivery of mine and it's lovely.
1.2kg (including poles, pegs and bag) - nice.
they're nicely priced too (as long as you avoid the customs sting)!
(stuart - have just received my seam sealant today and so i'll prep it and post some photos of it in action asap).

anyone seen/used/own one of these....?
Eureka 'Spitfire Solo'
for the money they look pretty nice!
(stuart, still no photos of the Skyscape Scout as i've not had the time to do the seam-sealing when the weather's been dry recently - also, i've never attempted seam-sealing before and am worried i'll screw up my shiny new tent!)

cool, i'll do that - your wording certainly sounds a lot simpler than some of the many pointed instructions i've read online!
