I have a Rab eVent jacket which has seen a lot of abuse and not much love. I've tried the usual Tech Wash / TX Direct / Tumble Drier approach, but it no loger beads water on the surface, and doesn't seem very breathable any more.
Is it wrecked? Can it be restored to full working order? If I need a replacement and go for eVent again, how can I stop it from dying if its in regular use?
Thanks,
Dr. Matt...

Rab have a "Clean & Repair" service, might be worth getting in touch with them and seeing if they can do anything...

Re: Resurrecting dead eVent jacket
I had a similar issue with a well used Event jacket, apparently they need washing regularly but do end up needing replacing . From personal experience I have switched to Goretex as I feel the warranty/ guarantee is much better, and the maintenance is lower!
Re: Resurrecting dead eVent jacket
I have just binned one as it looked so tatty. Mine had "bobbled" due to a rucksack rubbing on it. The jacket really did take some hammer though and was rarely looked after. I replaced it with another Rab of the same model. Costly at £220, but still offered good value and fantastic performance.

Give it another rinse in just water, might clean any excess stuff off the jacket. Not sure how a jacket gets less breathable by washing it, unless some old soap powder has clogged it up

This may have been the issue... or it may just have been knackered. I'm pretty sure I cleaned the drawer out first, but not sure if you should do anything to the rest of the washing machine. We use washing liquid over powder so hopefully there shouldn't be too much residue in the internals.voodoo_simon wrote:Not sure how a jacket gets less breathable by washing it, unless some old soap powder has clogged it up
