The first summer event of 2016 starts in a few weeks while winter events are still going on in Northern hemisphere.

The event will have 3 waves of riders who are to complete the route in between 14 and 30 days. A few names I recognise from TD but anyone looking for someone local to cheer for there is Andy Lawrence (Chickenlegs) in wave 1 and myself (Kevin Cunniffe) and Rickie Cotter in wave 2. Don't think Rickie is on here, to busy riding probably, and she is already out there posting stuff on her Twitter account.

One of things we have to do is take 30 photo's along the way at specific points but we have yet to find out where they are. I understand they will be posted somewhere for dot watchers to view but do not know where.

This is the web page for the event and you will be able to find all you need here.

I had a fully loaded practice for the first days riding today, the race starts at midday and the last sailing of the first ferry crossing is at 8pm,
165km away, missed it by 5 minutes :???:
Must try harder

I am still a bit worried about the first section, ~80km in 4 hours on the beach is not going to happen for me on a loaded bike.

I'm doing this too. Still not sure whether it's a race or not but I'm cycling from Kaitaia to Cape Reinga then riding the 2nd wave down to the South and got to get back up to Auckland all in three weeks. S'gonna be tight!

May see you at the start Tom, good luck. Sounds like you will be moving a bit quicker than me. I have just over a 4 weeks to get down and back to Christchurch before flying from there.
