Recommend me a synthetic sleeping bag....

Hello,

Rain... we all love it.... except the damp climate which is getting to my down bags on 3 day trips, so was thinking of investing in a synthetic bag.

As the title of the thread suggests: recommend me a synthetic bag, comfort rating will be a compromise on pack size I know, but I want a small pack size as the priority. I was looking at the Alpkit Mountain Ghost but the pack size seems quite large....

Anything come to mind?.

I have a couple of these that I got a few years ago and still use on occasion as they pack down small for a synthetic bag. I've even used it in frost - but I wouldn't make a habit of it.

The new bags decathlon make at this temp rating are much bulkier.

I've got a Mountain Hardwear Super Lamina 35. It's light, packs small and keeps me toasty. Got it for about £65 from Blacks last summer.

Also a Lamina user - I have a 35 and a 0. I reckon they are a good compromise of warmth/weight/pack size but that Hyperlamina looks vaguely exciting, especially as it's over 200g lighter.

I have a Lamina 20 which I've used down to well below freezing. It's a great bag but fairly bulky (compared to down)

I picked up a bargain Haglofs Lim 10 which is pretty nifty. It is incredibly warm considering its weight, but as I have only had it since January I've only tested it in 'conservatory conditions' - windows open 11 degrees C. was fine at that and I'm not usually a warm sleeper.

I'll continue to push its boundaries in controlled conditions as I can't believe that a synthetic bag can perform so well (at that weight)

Lamina is the standard choice here I think

Have you thought about hydrophobic down? Better than normal down, though not as good as full synthetic

I know someone who uses one of the OMM RAID ones, but they seem designed only for the most masochistic among us...

Another option is the Buffalo system, albeit some find it to very
Bulky,it is very adaptable. I struggle with down products due to
Me having asthma so have been using Buffalo bags for early
30 years, I use a Superbag, a Thermaliner and a lightweight outer,
obviously not all at the same time

I've got a lamina 35 and am not that impressed with it. I find it massive - I'm 179, 70kg, and I float about in it which doesn't help. I think the 35f rating is pretty generous. Just bought a cumulus 350 quilt which is loads warmer, and half the weight. But obviously not synthetic!
